SLR/C199/R199/Z199: Top speed problems - please advise.

Top speed problems - please advise.
Have any SLR owners encountered an issue whereby at a certain speed, in my case most often around 290kmh (181mph), most of the power cut out and the car would not accelerate any further?
Power seemed to only be restored when I let the vehicle drift back down to around 140kmh (87mph), at which point all the power and torque returned.
I don't think it's a rate limiter situation because the issue occurred at various speeds, most often at 290kmh, but also at 210kmh and 230kmh. It's almost as if the car went into a limp-home mode, no matter how much throttle I gave it.
Any advice?
The vehicle didn't throw any codes, and the only thing I can think of is that it is 2 days past the first service appointment.
Help, please?

The symptoms sound similar to the intercooler pump failures discussed in various 55 Kompressor threads such as this one: https://mbworld.org/forums/sl55-amg-sl63-amg-sl65-amg-r230/194428-performance-issue-help.html#post2224412
That might be worth checking out. Good luck!

Yeah, sounds exactly like my S55, run it hard for a while or hard through the gears and at some point all of the sudden no more boost (limp mode). If it's the same problem I had then the intercooler pump has failed and needs to be replaced. If that's the problem it'll get worse over time.

The SLR has two intercooler pumps, and it seems like you are having a pump or possibly both pump failures. When the pump fails, it will not throw the code, but the car will be "limping" even though you are on the full throttle.

Okay, thanks to everyone. I had figured it was that exact issue, although it was very nice to read about similar experiences from other posters.
I think it's probably a good excuse to upgrade to a higher flow water pump.
