So have prices bottomed out? I'm thinking of trading my SL500 and picking up an SLS to drive and also for it's appreciation potential. Which would be better for future value? Coupe or Convertible? I like convertibles but I'm thinking the Gull Wing? There is one 2012 Gull Wing for sale at $135k.

Pick up a highly optioned coupe. I spoke to the sales manager at a large exotic dealership that specializes in rare and unique cars. He said the most collectible cars will be the coupes with rare desirable options i.e. CC brakes, Carbon fiber trim, carbon fiber engine bay etc. Of course he said the Black Series would be the best option, then GT's and lastly earlier models. At this point its all speculation, but he's a guy with his finger on the pulse of the collectable auto industry.

B&O sound system isn't that great. Granted I haven't listen to music in an SLS without it, but most owners aren't overly impressed with it. I would aim for cf options and cc brakes. Adding cf after is very expensive. From what I've seen, the two most rare options are cc brakes and the cf engine covers.
The B&O system doesn't have the best low-end (which I'm increasingly convinced is restrained by software, not hardware, because right after the NAV lowers the volume to give an instruction the bass is WAAAAAY stronger for half a second when the volume comes back up before the dynamic sound processing cuts it off again), but non-B&O cars come with the 100-watt system you got in a base model C-Class.
The final edition roadster base price was $208k so assuming it was moderately equipped, it doesn't look like the accident it was in made much difference.

I have driven a couple of final editions. I didn't like the fixed wing or the quilted/diamond pattern seats. You can't feel any difference in power. Love the hood!
The coupe should bring more far money down the line because of the door factor. IMO.
However, I have extensive time in both the coupe and Roadster before I made a purchase (Special thanks to Fletcher Jones Mercedes in Newport Beach!) and, the Roadster is BY FAR the superior drive (especially if it has the adaptive suspension).
I bought the Roadster to drive and not collect dust or, save the seats for the next guy. Life is too short for that. The sound is incredible with no top on the car. If MBworld SLS owners are ever in Newport, I am glad to give rides, then you will know what I mean about "superior drive".

This sounds like the way to go! Hard to really tell depending on the options. However, some 2012 come with a 3 way adaptive suspension that I really recommend if, you are going to drive it.
Hey when I started searching there were 79 cars a year ago. It is down to 32-35 today. If you are going to do it now is the time. Prices are jumping now!
