SLS/R197/C197 AMG: Super Sprint Exhaust for SLS AMG

Here is a link to the video

We would like to share some basic informations on this new Supersprint exhaust system.
The current Supersprint headers indeed are LONG TUBE.
http://www.supersprint.com/en/prod_z-p-11199.aspx
For what it is worth, they are way longer than the stock headers, and also longer than any other SLS headers we have seen, so far.
In the near future, we will also offer a race only, non-catted version of headers, with a primary design longer yet.
However, the main focus of our R&D activity always is placed on the final results, in terms of performance and sound, more than on the lenght of the primaries itself; which is an important feature, regardless.
The Supersprint SLS exhaust is specifically designed, from the headers to the metallic cats to the rear mufflers, to offer the best performance, while retaining the ever important, emission compliant status.
Each individual part is designed to work in unison with the remaining Supersprint components.
Our R&D team has worked 6 weeks, non stop, to meet our goal.
We at Supersprint in Italy, own the same type of MAHA, all wheel dyno, which the AMG Factory uses. This eliminates any guesswork from the measurement of our results.
The increase in performance, both in hp and torque, is astounding.
http://www.supersprint.com/en/prod-p...093E280BA.aspx
All of the tests have been made on a prefectly stock, brand new SLS. No ECU reprogramming was done.
The SS exhaust is a bolt-on-and-go product, which makes the SLS break the 600 hp barrier, with no other modification necessary.
In some points of the powerband, from 4200 to 6000, the average increase is + 40hp, with a peak of + 50hp, at some particular rpm stages.
When driving the Supersprint equipped car, the feeling about the increase is exactly the same, as measured on the dyno.
Also , we have done a lot of researching, designing and testing work for our rear muffler system.
Beside the streamlined, perfectly clean, canister design, our goal was to totally change the tone of the stock sound, by eliminating the high pitched rasp, and replacing it with a deep, throaty note, throughout the rpm range.
At the same time, we wanted no drone at any rpm.
We achieved all this, after countless hours spent on the drawing board, and several, failed attempts.
As always, the best results only come with the right mix of creativity and hard work.

Not bad for an old boy, but as my name suggests I am an acoustic engineer.
Maybe a trip to the Doc's for a lot of things, but not my ears.
Actually after hearing both I think my 63 is marginally louder with more rasp.

is more than a chance that UK cars are fitted with smaller cats. USA law
is very stringent and would want lower emissions, side reflectors and bigger
bumpers, although the bumper thing may not exist anymore. Listening to
the SOLS here it has a deeper note than my 63 which really rasps. Unfortunately you can't tell on computer speakers what true exhaust sound like.In fact to hear an exhaust sound real you would have to get a very
powerful amp and high quality, high output speakers.
I will try and record mine, and even on computer speakers you won't get
the output, but you will hear the tonal differences.
Judging by your reply, you don't know much about sound.

arent you the one that said your SL63 sounds better than the SLS.
?I have an SL63 and an SLS. I Know how both sound and feel very well. and the SLS sounds better at stock form when compared to a stock SL63. you made a stupid comment about the video of supersprint and that there is no diffrence between it and a stock SLS.
Yeah I dont know much about sound

Yeah I dont know much about sound

1 I never said my 63 sounds better than a SLS,
2 If you read it says there is every chance the cats are different in the UK
than the US, I presume your car with the side reflectors is American spec.
3 I said my car sounds different to a SLS, the sound is thinner with more
rasp, the SLS was beefier and slightly lower, I would not say though which
was louder. So instead of name calling try and be a little more technical
instead.

My SL63 is a US spec and it had the primary cats deleated and still the SLS had a louder sound

trust me...I wat to be technical, but your not helping

it's not just about loudness, it's also about the tonal quality, and I am
merely pointing out the different tone you get between stock SL63 and
stock SLS . Ice cream is nice, but too much makes you sick.
