I wouldn't put money on this, but I remember reading something that said a total of between 2,500 and 3,000 SLS coupes exist in the United States. This does not include Black/GT models. So that's a rough estimate.

Ten years from now you won't get half the original MSRP as both the coupe and roadster have a critical engineering flaw exclusive to the SLS. Think about it. What aspect of the basic layout of the car is not seen in any other Mercedes, and was abandoned for good reason in the new AMG GT ?

so the SLR didnt hold there value ? they looked like all mercedes. its what you cant get your hands on. They will be rare like they were 50 years ago

There are 2000 or so BMW Z8s in the USA. Manufactured 2001 to 2003. MSRP was $128K. Low mileage Z8s are for sale right now for $179K.
According to the above numbers, there are significantly FEWER SLS vehicles in the USA. So, using the same percentage increase (which might be conservative).. in 10 years an SLS will list for around $250K.
Now, as an investment 40% in 10 years isn't all that great. But as for vehicle value...

Actually, I am serious. try selling a used SLR for it's original MSRP, you would be lucky to get half of that. Once the AMG GT becomes available the SLS value will plummet.

Don't know the validity of these numbers but I found a site (link provided) that gives some of the exact same quantities for yearly sales, but a couple that are drastically different:
US Sales SLS AMG (all types)
2010 - 499 (same value as above post)
2011 - 722 (different)
2012 - 800 (different)
2013 - 451 (different)
2014 - 223 (10 months into 2014)
So roughly 2700 SLS cars on the streets in the USA according to this source.
