My Delius Klasing SLS AMG presentation book collection & other SLS collectibles.
I am thinking about parting with my Delius Klasing SLS AMG presentation book collection and other SLS collectibles. These books came as a gift to the original SLS owner from Mercedes-Benz. It took nearly 10 years to acquire these items.
The items:
Three - 1st edition books with case
Two - 2nd edition books with case
Three - 1st edition book with no case
One - SLS dealer sample book with all MY2011 paint & leather samples
One - SLS Hat authentic with original Mercedes’ tag attached.
One - SLS Roadster t-shirt in Large authentic with Mercedes’ tag attached
One - SLS Gullwing Car cover, the bag is included.
I would probably retain one 2nd edition book (lighter color) pictured with my car below.
All items in 9.5 to 9.9 out of 10 condition. One 1st edition book is still sealed in 10 of 10 condition. If I do finally let go, I’m not willing to part it out. It would be sold to one individual. Why..? I really don’t want to deal with multiple transactions.
If you think the the Gullwing is appreciating ..the books have it beat by a mile.. Like the car, these will skyrocket quickly and will be close to impossible to obtain. The last one with case sold at auction for over $2100 around six months ago. If not interested in a collection, I wish you luck in finding a book with case & letter. Garage sale?

please DM me with a number, would love to add this collection to our SLS!
I think it's around $11,000 and it took him like 12 or 13 years to acquire it or something like that
Hi …thanks. Don’t even know you 🤷♂️ Do I? ( I have been wrong a zillion times before 🤣 that’s part of life) … $11,000 wouldn’t even be an opening bid. No one on PLANET has anything like this….
please DM me with a number, would love to add this collection to our SLS!
Howdy 😁.. not how it’s works… DM me your best and final offer… then double it… that’s what it will take. Again ..NO ONE on the PLANET has anything like this… yes I am being a (super nice) A hole… don’t care (that’s part of the fun for me). Because I know this is not available anywhere! Old Frank can tell ya what he bought 300SL luggage for ..and then sold it for almost 6 digits or more. So… in parallel .. this is the only thing that came with the SLS that was “ancillary” outside of options that were ordered with the car. Other ancillary items were the music connect, the charging cords ( 2 pieces), the first aid kit, the MB trickle charger and stuff that I can’t remember and are ready available to purchase. (Ron help!) This is the Holy Grail of STUFF! … & it will take FOREVER to ever see it/or get it again. So… feel free to hang out on EBay for the rest of your life to find a … whatever.. with the SLS skyrocketing in price.. there are now hundreds of bidders waiting with you for collectables. Happy Hunting.

I wasn't hunting, I have SLS Gullwing on my Google Alerts and your awesome collection popped up! I was the first person to sell an owner's manual on BaT. Porsche 906 manual. Your incredible collection would easily beat my $11k bid for one book. Just think, $8-10k per item would be quite a score!

Nice collection! The 190SL is a beaut! Thanks for posting!
Here is a book for sale (not mine) no presentation box however 😪.. Happy Bidding. This came with 2011/2012 Gullwings (this edition was not with the roadsters).

That doesn't look like a horrible deal, all things considered. I'll consider parting with mine (same edition/condition/no box) if/when they are predictably above $1k; otherwise, I think I'd rather have it next to my other AMG hardback books on the shelf.
How does not having the presentation box and signed letter affect the book's value?
My assumption is that it isn't necessarily "negative"; the vast majority of books out there never had a box/letter (I think it was only for 2011 MY). As far as the books themselves, the latest edition, which includes the BS, is probably the most desirable, but not as "collectible", if that makes any sense. Bottom line, I think the box is more of an additive to the price, rather than "no box" being a detractor. Of course I could be entirely wrong; the market for these is so small it's difficult to establish consistent values.
My understanding is there are two versions of each edition of the book. One version was included with the car. It came in a presentation box and included a letter signed by MB USA president and CEO. The other version was sold to the general public in bookstores. It did not include presentation box and letter. If that is true then the version that included the box and letter should be valued more than the version sold in stores. How much more? I don't know.
Both editions of the book came in presentation boxes. The darker gray Presentation box was the Gullwing book. The light gray Presentation box came with the 2012 Roadster & Gullwing. There was an additional Canadian version with the Gullwing embossed in silver on the box cover you can see that in the photo below. The last single book almost hit $1000 with no presentation box, it did not sell. The last book that sold with a presentation box sold for $2152 plus shipping. The box matters..

PS… The second edition book was available at Barnes & Noble’s around 10 years ago without the presentation box. I came across a stack of them in the clearance section and they were $45 a piece. I was thinking to myself who would buy such a quirky car 🙋♂️ and a book for $45! 🤦♂️ 🤣
