Seriously, I've read somewhere that while some federal European taxes sound rediculous (~44% in Austria), they do not pay state taxes and alot of other junk taxes, so the total taxation rate is not that much different than it is for the wealthiest in America. So now most people are probably paying 40-45%.. and don't even realize it!

BTW, is my sig showing up??
im pretty sure they pay significantly more in taxes than we do....

people are paying 40-45% in taxes because they are idiots, the only way your taxes end up that high is if you are a complete moron. youd have to write off nothing and live in California.

and yes, your sig looks good

Never argue with a redneck

Maybe here's what I'm thinking, have the tag board system, but to comment on someone you have to include the thread you refer too and stuff. So people can see what true things they've contributed easily.

If you want to know if someone is a postwhore or truly knowledgable (or at least opinionated) on a subject, search for threads they have participated in the catagory you are looking, if there is nothing or all smilies an LOL's you know. Why re-engineer the board?
Everyone knows that Poch, Jam and vraa are post ****** already, the rest of you are just wannabes.

I don't think it is a bad idea, but it is a double edge sword, I really don't care much anymore if OT posts don't count.

Next time make this a poll and sent PMs to the moderators with the results

Yes, we should probably keep the politics under wrap... 60% TAX FOR THE RICH... oops, I slipped.
Andrew, I think I remember that you are in high school. What do you know about paying taxes...or who should?

Are you just repeating what liberal teachers have told you?

Interesting to know where you get your strong opinions with no real experience.

Yeah, Tyler Wheeler, his little brother Jimmy is in my class.. I didn't know Tyler though.

etenn - No, I am not just repeating what my 'liberal' teachers say. It's a matter of basic personal philosophy that I believe in high taxes for the wealthiest in society. I go to a school where there are ALOT of really wealthy people, and I have friends/classmates who are super rich. The excess and absurdity of these people has led me to believe that the lifestyle of someone who, on average, makes over $300k-$600k/year, is rediculous. Therefore, it is my opinion that these people should have to 'sacrifice' in order to pay for the necessities of society.

So...you believe that someone who works very hard, and makes more money because of his hard work, should have to SHARE that money with others?

WTF is the lifestyle of anyone else any of your business or anyone else? You seem to think that a penalty should be paid for hard work (you call it a 'sacrifice")

You may change your tune when you start earning a living.

Well, yes. Not a penalty for hard work... many people work very hard and dont ever make a million dollars total. (firemen, policemen, teachers, they all work hard and don't make much money) I only want to punish those who happen to be compensated $300,000+ a year for their hard work.

Everyone says that I will change my mind and become a republican when I start working.. but I don't think so. First, I really don't have any aspiration to make millions of dollars a year, and second, if I somehow do it will not bother me pay ~45% tax. I consider myself lucky to have reasonably wealthy parents and a chance to get a great education, so I don't have a problem with giving back if I were to make it big.

I guess so.. I haven't seen a mod weigh in on this. We could post a poll but it seems that the sentiment here is that people like it the way it is now.
