Nightly Spam

There seems to be a trend where a ton of spam gets posted late at night. Can you please do something to counter it?

Hi,

It's impossible to entirely block spam unless we lock down the community. (no new registrations). We balance access to our community with the short term inconvenience of spam until it is removed by the moderator staff. Last night was the first large scale attack I've seen in a couple weeks. Thanks!

Is there a way to reprimand this user along with other users who post their sales in non-vendor forums?...They post nothing but their business sales, tired of seeing Vossen wheel sales etc...
(for example, can you move their posts to the vendor area?) or is that too much/too many posts...
if not, can i reply on their posts shaming them, or will that get me in trouble with this forum...

I agree, when I use the "new posts" feature it's full of vendor spam, a lot of scrolling to get past it all. Quite trashy, and annoying.

Hi,

I’m sorry but there has never been any restrictions on where vendors may place ads since the forum was founded. We did create a couple forums for vendor ads hoping they would use them to take ad pressure away from the forums and some do. We do restrict excessive ads, bumps and ads place in the middle of technical discussions. I hope this helps.

So then, Is there a way to remove the vendor posts from showing in the "new posts" option? That is really the only time the bumps become disruptive.

Thank you, we will talk to the vendors reminding them to space out their ads and bumps.

Please take a look at VB Live Feed under the Tools menu in the top nav bar. It's a real time feed of MBworld posts that can be customized by you. See if that will meet your needs, thanks.

Live feed tools only let you ignore certain sections.

I tried to ignore the spammers but still shows up in list just blank posts.

only can be fixed if the moderators crack down on the hand that feeds them and move the threads and warn the suppliers to only START posts in those vendor sections.

Works on other sites

It's still happening. It makes this website look like a junkyard. Time for the admins to set some limits on their paid sponsors.

Dayum never thought what it would be like on a phone... must suck big time..

I only use my laptop with big screen but the suckers can still fill it up with 20-40 rows of their junk.
I will not shop from these peeps.... too rude and cannot follow instructions of placing their adverts in specific vendor sections...

Hi,

There are no specific vendor sections.

Hi everyone,

The automotive sales, parts and service industries are extremely competitive during normal times. All that has been amplified as some sponsors attempt to squeeze out enough business to keep afloat until we get through this pandemic.

We are working to get the word out to all our sponsors at once through the IB sales team. Almost everyone is working remotely today so nothing happens quickly. I ask for your patience and understanding concerning the unprecedented economic times we now have before us as we work through this. Thank you.

Also, please make sure you are logged in to MBWorld. Not logged in users see many more ads.

I want to thank you Bob for the replies and perspective. I guess I'll just move on from the topic and hope IB can come up with a fair policy for all. On a final note, one vendor stops, and another does it again 8 hours later 🙄😀

Then what are these for?

Should they not just be posting in these sections?

Does this website have an "ignore" feature where you can choose to block any user's posts from being seen by you?

I'm not sure it will block vendor posts. Give it a try.]

Yes, the ignore feature is pretty useless. It still shows topics started by the ignored user, see example below:

Other sites make ignored user's posts and topics completely invisible. That's how it's supposed to work!

Guys,

I'm sorry I do not know of a way to block all MBWorld vendor ads completely in the new post search results. All I can do is hope the benefit of MBworld's community size and knowledgeable members willing to share their expertise can make the ads tolerable. As we come out of this horrible virus pandemic the ads should reduce. Thanks.

Bob
