I apologize, I installed one kit today on my e55 (low beams) but it was in my work garage and it was insanely dark (federal garage, no funds haha). It took about 15 minutes start to finish (in a sports jacket!) and I had no visibility- just touch and feel. One issue I ran into is the plastic pieces supplied by the seller. They are meant to replace the metal tabs that go around the bulb to allow you to screw the bulb into the housing, but do not hold the bulb in as well as the originals did. The other issue is that you can no longer use the dust caps/water shields w/out modifying them. I will take pics when I install the second kit on my e500.

MAKE SURE YOU WEAR SILICONE/RUBBER GLOVES WHEN YOU DO THIS INSTALL.

Looks pretty sweet!

I ordered the high beam and fog light kits to match my stock xenons. Not sure when they will get here, but I'll try to take pictures of the install (read: me f***ing a football!).

You mean the E55 does not come standard with HID lights? That is pretty stupid for a modern $80,000 + car to not have HID headlights standard, when you can get them standard on cars that are a fraction of the cost.

Mine does not have OEM HIDs. Can I use this kit to bring my stock projector houseing to HID? Sorry if this has already been answered.

I have to disagree. I bought every color temp xenon bulb in the process of finding the one I liked best, and the stocks matched the color of the 6k....

To match the color to OEM Xenon, do I need 6000?
I ordered one kit for my fogs.

Stock bulbs are 4300K

Do you have 55watt ballast? A 6000K bulb on a 55w ballast is 4300K

I was told the OEMs are 5000K. I'm not sure how the ballast comes in to play.

That makes no sense that Mercedes did not have HID lights as standard on an $85,000 car, but a $32,000 Honda S2000 has them.

stocks are 4300k as mentioned--- remember that's the bulb but the projectors on different cars make the bulb look different colors.

Eg: the projectors on my Bimmers always made the bulbs look purplish blue like a 6000k from different angles versus the generally whiter 4300k xenons off the Benzos.

Ever see those Range Rovers come up on you? Those are crazy blue but they are 4300k Phillips bulbs I believe.

I know I am likely a real noobie here but I bet this group can help me understand.

For high beam lights do the HID's still need to warm up the way the factory xenon lights do? I have had asian rental cars that had no auxiliary high beam light and they were capable of coming on with no arching or warm up time before you had full wattage. MB has bi-xenon lights and the auxiliary high beam H7 bulb as well I would want to upgrade that H7.

Do they sell that sort of HID kit I could get for my cars?

I actually see where you are coming from, the 12k headlights in my car look darker blue in my car than when I tried them in my friend's M3.

I thought they were 6k because 6k fogs match the headlights better than 4300 bulbs... but your right the projector can affect the color of the light output.

On my M6 the HID hi beams dont warm up- the beam is all part of the same bulb as the regular headlight so I guess as the headlights warm up in general the hi beam is ready too.

No lets say your hi beam is a different bulb, I would expect it to warm up as the ignitors kicked in. You would get that color differentiation for a few seconds and then it would be full force. I have never seen high beam hids on Benzes but you can get the h7 kit in the HID format but I am guessing that it would take a few seconds for the color to reach its correct temp.

Yes MB uses an auxi high beam in addition to the flapper built into the bi-xenon housing. This just yields more light and shoots it further down the road. Nissan and Infinity for example tend to use just the bi-xenon ellipsoid light so when you do the flash to pass function the xenon bulb needs to be ready instantly. They flash on like lightning with no warm up time since the DOT requires the full light power to be ready instantly for the high beam light. I was looking for something like that.

I called them for my kit and he said that they did not have 35watt kit.
He said that he was getting more kits by friday.
I hope that I will get the kit by next week.
What kinds of kit most people ordered?
