Today i woke up early to install the PIAA H7 Xtreme White Plus Bulbs on what i thought were Low Beam Halogens. Silly me, come to find out the "Low Beam Halogens" (the smaller lamp circle) are not H7, but are the parking lights

So i installed the PIAAs into the High Beams. A bit bummed but the question is: what have some of you replaced the Parking Bulbs with? I'd like to get the color to match close as possible to the Xenons without going for a whole new Headlamp Assemby - maybe impossible but thought i'd ask.

Do you mean the 'city' lights?

I have tried several different brands of bulbs in the city light location but none came close to the white of the Xenon, that is until I went with the white LED's. It is not PnP but the result was well worth it. Do a search on the board, there's a wealth of information here.

if the 'city lights' are the smaller headlight assembly that turn on when the parking lights are switched, then i think we are talking about the same thing.

i spent all morning searching for the bulb size which would fit but every site never listed the parking light size. the owner's manual says "H" but ive never heard of that size.

also searched the forums for "parking lights", "parking bulbs" and only a few threads came up.

Edit: ok finally found something on the forums, H6W is the size, now just need to find a US site to purchase.

im ok with it not matching exaclty the white of the xenon, a little darker is ok...anything other then yellow

thanks!

H6W Xenon-like bulbs
I installed what they call Xenon-match city lights. They were sourced from Hoen. The color is not quite Xenon in color but it's pretty close. Definitely much better than stock "yellow" color.

Enjoy!!

i ran across that site last night and they look to be the one's to get if i want a "stock" replacement type bulb that matches close. curious why they show the "H6W" as sold installed only....

thanks again you all!

i also picked up some stealth bulbs for the front turn signals. when im all done with the light mods, ill post some pics.

Because they won't sell you a H6W. They don't make a H6W, they modify a light assembly to accept a different bulb. The ad is very misleading. There are no good H6W alternatives that I know of. LED's don't work without causing a bulb failure message or you have to add in a hoky resistor setup with them.

Put 5W Blue Bulbs in the parking lights and 55WBlue Bulbs, I think H7 in W210 and HB4 in W211 Fogs. You cannnot see the blue from a distance when switched OFF but when ON they closely match the Xenon.
Then install CHROME indicator bubs which glow amber, and the job is complete.

last thing is the Parking lights and im done...ive checked the Philips 5W Blue Bulbs as well, they look pretty good. i think i like the Hoen matching and intensity better...

The H6W bulbs in the parking lights have a BAX9 base. Make sure your replacement bulbs have this type of base so you do not crack or break the holder.

Bulb purchase
Quote: did you purchase the H6W they offer or the W5W?
At the time of my purchase (over a year ago), I purchased the H6W bulb. It sounds like they offer a different solution now. Not sure why they changed their product offering.

got in contact with hoen today and they said they no longer offer the H6W as the production costs were too much

i may have to look into the Polarg M17s, Philips H6W or go LED...all my other lighting upgrades are in place and the yellow city lights are klling me

I've tried Polar's, the Sylvania Cool Blues, Philips, etc. They all suck. Not much "whiter" than stock. The LED's are a pain, but I'm sure they would be much closer.

i use the Polarg - while they aren't as white as the low beams, they are noticeably whiter then the stock bulbs and im happy with them.

Thanks. What is the model # of the polarg that you used, and what (if anything) needs modified?

M17s as i mentioned above. you will need to sand down one of the nubs, if you try to force it in with both nubs it will break your socket as the Mercedes fittings are offset.
