E55 Owners - What OEM Spring Pad Sizes?

I am curious. Based on other threads about OEM Spring Pads sizes it seems they 'may' vary - even for the same model. If they vary does that mean that Mercedes has some quality control issues with their spring manufactor and the springs vary in height and the pads are used to correct the varying spring heights. Hmmmmm!

My 2002 E55 has 3 bumps all around.

I had #4 pads all the way around when I first got my beast... Now I have 1's and 2's (rear).

How do you find out which ones are on the car? I have an '02 E55 as well.

Thanks,

BenH

The fronts are easiest to see. Turn the wheels inward for each side so turn left wheel completely to the right and right wheel completely to the left. Flashlight needed. Look at the top of the spring and you should see a black rubber piece that has a number of bumps (****) from 1 to 5 up front and only up to 4 in back.

I am not sure if the rear is visible from underneath the car without removing the wheel.

I recently purchased a 2001 E55 and have #3 spring pads all the way around. Would it be worthwhile to go to #1 all the way around, or would you even notice a difference in ride height. I know it should be about 8mm.

Congrats and welcome. That would be a lot of trouble and expense just for the pads. I would also opt to upgrade the springs and perhaps the dampers. The suspension is the E55's weakest link. I believe the best setup is the Kleemann bits which are also the most expensive.

Kleemann - Springs $385/Dampers $1680
Renntech - Springs $525/Springs & Dampers $1190
