Hard starting problem
I've had my e55 for six months now with no issues. That is until today. The car would crank but not fire. Not even a sputter after about a dozen attempts. My "Service A" is past due by 100 miles so I decided to hit the "R" button on the dash while I was cranking the car. The second I touched the "R" button the car fired - I do not know if this was coincidence or not. The car has had no problems restarting since. Any ideas or suggestions?

Well, It just did it again. Unlike last time when it just wouldn't fire while cranking, this time is just plumb died while at a stop light and wouldn't re-fire. As I pushed the car to the side I was heckled by a passenger in a rusty Civic. After about 20 minutes and 20-30 crank attempts, it fired and I made it home. After shutting it down I tried to restart and it fired right up.
Plugged fuel filter?
Bad electrical connection?
Time to trade it in for a w211 e55?

Well, I took Project's advise and changed out the crank position sensor two weeks ago. So far the car is back to its old reliable self so I think the problem is solved. The part was $75 and was easy to change as there is one bolt and one electrical connection. Thanks guys!
