Not a Kill Story, but more of a Jealousy story
Saw a E500 today for the first time. Damm it looks sweet. Makes my E55 look like crap. We looked at each other and waited until the light turned green.. We gunned it and I was able to beat it by a car length. I'm guessing we did about a quarter mile or less. It was a quick race.
Anyways, he made my car look like a piece a crap and the new e500 looks sweet. I can never keep up with the new body styles car manufacture pumps out.
I'm almost tempted to trade my E55 for the new E500. Wish I had the money to afford the new E55's when they come out, but I'm poor now. Damm our economy.

Just keep in mind, Wreck, that there's ALWAYS something newer and better out there. Short of accumulating a half dozen cars worth close to a million $$ you'll never be able to have the best of all types of cars.
The 210E55 is a great car in its own right.
And there are lots of people every day who look at YOUR car and say, "Damn, I wish I could afford an E55".

Actually i tend to like the 210 body style better has more charcter and as far as the E55 goes it looks way more muscular if you ask me. Plus if you always have something new it looks like your just trying to spend money to have the new toy, at some point the word connisuer enters the situation. Just some things to think about. But i also do know that feeling of having to get of a car and get something, anything that is not my current car.

Wreck, just wait till the AMG Sport package is available in North America. It makes the standard 211 look likes its already out-of date. It won't have the waiting list nor the additional $10,000-$15,000 premium the new e-55 will have.

We MBZ fanatics and car nuts can tell the difference in these models, but I really believe that if I parked a Silver 2003 W211 in my driveway my neighbors and passerbys would not take a second look and just think that it is still the same Silver 2002 E-Class I currently drive.
The change is evolutionary and not revolutionary like the difference people would notice in:
W140 & W220
W140 CL and W215
W202 & W203
W124 & W210
R129 & R230

amg55 is right, there is always something nicer, faster out there, so just enjoy your E55.

I absolutely love my W210 E55! Every single time I drive it, I think, what a great car! My E55 always gives me an ear to ear grin when I step on the gas... and I'd rather have my E55 than 2 W211 E500's... anyday. AMG forever, indeed.

I just was driving by my local MBZ dealer today and they had the new W211 outside for people to see. Its easy to tell the difference and this is based on the statements of many of my friends who have not owned a W210 MBZ or an MBZ at all. The W210 is dated and though still an awesome looker the change is enough for the normal person to notice or inquire as to what model it is.

KEV is right that there is certainly a percentage of the population that won't likely notice 210 vs. 211.
Possibly even the majority of Americans.
There are a large number of people out there who can't even tell a Taurus from a Jaguar S-type from the side in a parking lot.
Anyone who has a genuine interest in cars, of course, will easily tell the 210 from the 211. But I'll bet that's less than 50% of all Americans. Anyone at this forum of course, immediate family members, anyone at an MB dealership, etc is very likely to be up on the changes.

I here comments from people making comments about someone having money because they drive a Mercedes and the car will be 10/12 years old. I saw a TV magazine story about some low life helping people with scams and the reporter made a big deal about the guy driving a Mercedes - the car was a 190E and was 15 years old and he reported it like the guy was rich or well off.
