Whats the difference between the E55 and factory 210 suspension??
hey my buddy just got an E320 and he has the factory suspension. I still have my factory E55 suspension, if we install it on his car and change the spring pads to #1 how much will the drop be??? I am think around 1 inch maybe??????
Will this be a good looking drop with 18 inch wheels on 235x40x18 tires or will he need a larger drop. I am asking because I have not had my factory suspension on my E55 since March of 2001.

The picture below is a 2001 E320 with the full E55 suspension (springs, shocks, sways) with #1 pads. As you can see, the drop isn't all that much. The ride, on the other hand, is a major improvement.
The wheels in the picture are just the factory 17". If you will be putting 18" wheels on the E320, I would suggest a staggered fitment. The E has large rear wheel wells that cry out to be filled.
What I would choose:
Front = 18 x 8.5 - 235/40
Rear = 18 x 9.5 = 265/35
For an example of an E with this wheel fitment, check out the last page of this PDF

Out Of Control!!
I would guess the drop would be a little higher in the front than the E55. The E55 springs are designed for a heavier (engine weight) car. Putting a stronger spring on a lighter engine will result in less of a drop. Changing the pads to a 1 will help, I just don't know how much.

I'm curious -- the E55 seems to have an excellent stock suspension, as far as I remember. What's the point in getting an aftermarket suspension? I've been in my friends' lowered cars before, and haven't been too impressed -- handling improves marginally at the huge expense of ride comfort.
