Well, I ended up getting mine from someone on ebay. They are factory AMG rotors, and are great. This is the cheapest (money wise) I could find.

The ebay link from the person I bought it from? If so I'll have to do a little research.

Would you stick to OEM E55 cross-drilled rotors or would you choose Brembo cross-drilled rotors if you had the option??? Just looking for opinions...thanks!

as the guy above said, E55s came with regular rotors, not slotted or xdrilled.

i'd stick w/ OEM, they are dirt cheap, like $68/ea. why spend $300+ on xdrilled rotors which barely give 5% better performance which you'll never appreciate on street driving.

dude i realize pimpin ain't easy too.. but save the $ on the rotors, hot chicks never notice xdrilled rotors, you'll just have hs kids in riced out hondas wet their pants. and that's not cool. get some 19s or 20s if you want the show, not the go.

also, xdrilled rotors by itself wont do ***** to your braking performance. u gotta spend $5000+ on full Brembo kits

Yes, please tell us where you can get front rotors for $68!

I've checked online and and most distributors lump the AMG cars together and list only one rotor. The e55 rotors are different than other AMG cars.

The e55 rotors have an aluminum hat and are right/left specific due to venting. Best price I've found is $210 through a friend who owns a shop.

Those are the rears and are not much different in price as the stealer. Fronts are next to impossible to find. I have resorted to dealership for two pair, first time $210 and second $230/each.

W210 E55 rotor does not have aluminium hat. Yes they are two piece design but the hat is also made of good ol' STEEL.

If the hats are made of good ol' STEEL, how come they do not rust?

Mine has some rust on the hat. Just the fact that it is steel does not mean that it is going to rust. Stainless steel does not rust.

Mine have no rust on it. The hat doesnt have any primer on it either.

Schwäbische Hüttenwerke Automotive GmbH is the manufacturer of these rotors. They would probably know.

If I have time, I will stick a magnet to the hat. If it sticks, steel (assuming its not stainless steel, which I doubt). If it doesn't stick, aluminum.

My guess.... Aluminum.

You wanna bet?

I have both stock E55 330mm two piece rotor and Brembo 355mm two piece rotor (w/aluminium hat) for E55

The E55 rotor weigh 21lb while the bigger Brembo rotor weigh 17llb.
Why? Because the Brembo have aluminium hat and the E55 stock is steel.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to argue with you here. I'll get home tonight and put a magnet to it and if its steel I will admit that I'm wrong. It's a rotor, not the Iraq War debate.

Comparing the Brembo 2 piece floating rotor to a 1 piece SHW rotor is like comparing apples to oranges.

Nobody is arguing here. Just making a point using fact. i do not bet on War. The politicians do that. I'll buy you lunch if I am wrong

You can easily determine which one is aluminium and steel by scoring the metal surface. The steel is much harder to score than the aluminium.

BTW, the rust on my stock E55 rotor hat apparently came from somewhere else since when you wipe the hat surface it took the rust away and leave a clean and shiny surface. Probably rust from the rotor vanes. Plus the hat is not magnetic
