Trap times
Went to Cal Speedway this weekend.
Well, we had fun.
It was just very hot. gE63 and I were there. We had a good time. However I think we were just a little disappointed with our times. I am not sure if there is an altitude adjustment. See my attached time. I was hoping for real low
13s maybe break in 12s. (maybe I was asking to much) My best was 13.96 @102.55 mph. Anyway you experts that are getting 11s have any sugestions or comments? (besides get a new car)

The closest weather results for 06/30/2007 at 12:11 pm
Time recorded 11:53 AM
Temperature °F 90.0
Dew Point °F 55.9
Altimeter Setting 29.94 in Mercury
Density Altitude: 3187.2 feet Track Elelvation: 850 feet
UnCorrected ET:
13.96 (sec) @ 102.55 (MPH)
Corrected ET to Sea Level:
13.423 (sec) @ 106.726 (MPH)
How much faster should your car be?
The air was real bad , you may as well of been @ Palmdale.
Hard to even compare these times with sea level runs. Did you weigh the car? Stock tires? You could likely improve about 3/10ths off your 60ft times.
Your car was only running .4-.5 slower than the E63, so this is an impresiive run. 12.92 was the 63's corrected time vs your 13.4. Did you guys line up vs. eachother?

Do not be discouraged, prior to drag racing you should always lower your expectations when running in bad air. We cannot correct for traction but weather can be taken out of the time slip with simple algebra. Is your car stock? Is it also N/A, lacking the W211 super charger? Sorry I am unfamiliar with the engine in the W210. If it is N/A then the correction is completely accurate. Your car if super charged would be taking a 50% correction times the calculated DA. N/A motors are very very dependant on atmosphere, so a small turboed jetta or nissan would have likely kept up with you on this ultra hot day. Does the slip when you ran the 63 show a MOV?

Ok so from the posted slip, you lost to the E63 by .310 which is dam good. Honestly your car is running nicely. I think the 63 weighs 500 lbs more so this is why the race is closer than one would think. Make sure you weigh your car next time this will really give you a clear picture of how the car is puting down power to the wheels. When checking out other peoples times make sure you make a mental note of where the time was recorded. The East coast tracks are AMAZING in comparison to the tracks in California. We have nothing close to sea level in So cal. Sacramento is best. I think at German Invasion I raced a W210 and it was .9 behind me so your car seems to be healthy. Sorry I failed you guys , my helmet and tires were in someone elses garage...UGH

You can weigh your car usually you will see a sign saying "scales". Otherwise you can always stop at a truck stop, or truck scales and simply weigh the car so you have an accurate to the lb weight. Also weigh yourself :-). Most tracks have a scale, ask one of the crew guys where you can weigh the car next time @Fontana. Keep all your slips in a safe place. You will see a good .4-.5 improvement on a low temp 60-70 degree day. Get some R compound tires and put em on all 4 corners and you likely shave another .2-.3

One more thought. My year E55 does not have the touch shift. So I just keep it in drive and let it shift when it's suppose to. I did notice that it shifted out of third just be for the finish line. Will that make me slower too. What can i do? anything?
90*F is really hot! anything above 80 is bad, engine temp matters too.
Tire inflation is also a big deal. Some people say to underinflate the rears for grip and make sure there is proper inflation in the front to reduce roll resistance. I say just make sure your tires are properly inflated and ESP IS ON.
Anyone who says they are getting anything better than 13s is LYING..... Or they do not have a stock car.
There is no difference in acceleration between the 97-99s and 00-02s. that touch shift doesn't help anything.
ANDY
1. Air temp 60 degrees
2. Low humidity
3. High pressure, helps force air into engine
4. Good track temp (not sure whats best)
Good luck

If I'm right ALL three of these car were using racefuel when I was not.
