Mercedes Noob - E55 Reliability and Mod Questions

Just curious how reliable your cars are modded and unmodded? What mods are you guys running also? Do these cars make power easily?

I was thinking in the future to buy a 2000ish E55 in Silver and blacking out all of the chrome and getting wheels similar to the style on my M3.

Used to drive E55
From what I've heard that the W210 E55 is more reliable than the new ones. I have had mine since May and no real issues. Parts are a little more money then again you would know about that. I have just done some minor mods; no problems. The best mod would be a Supercharger if you have the money and even then I think it's still reliable. Good luck!

E55 AMG Estate W210 1998
Delighted with mine so far, mind you early days. I come from owning an e39 M5, which had a few minor electrical gremlins. This E55 strikes me as arguably better built, with even more of a solid as a tank feel to it

'04 Silverado Z71 - sold all my Benzes and need another!
I am an ex-BMW owner as well, 3 series, 5 series, M3, etc. I have owned 3 MB's till now, 1997 E420 Carlsson, 1967 280 Classic and currently a 2001 E55. I love the crap out of Mercedes Benz, especially my E55. These cars for me, are very well built and very reliable. Before I sold the E420 it had 142k miles on it and it ran better than new, no *****! The 55 is solid as heck and runs like great. It feels much faster than my previous M3 and has so much torque it could snap you neck off. Don't hesitate if your considering one and if the care was well maintained during it's life, I wouldn't hesitate on high miles either. Good luck and let us know!
