i like K&N
it's all about how you oil it when your clean the filter.
MAF problems arise when too much oil is applied or too much oil on the wrong side of the filter, etc. that excess oil flies onto the MAF sensor giving error codes.
quick fix, often overlooked, clean MAF sensor with qtips, let dry, clean filter again, apply proper amount of oil, and you're good to go. oh and scan tool to erase the previous code doh.

Here is my advice.

1.Just buy a new MAF it's stupid to try and clean the thing IMOP.( it's a maintenance item).

2. I also don't believe in oiling these filters as they come oiled(green that is). I'm just going to replace them with a new set of Green's. i saw my friend oiling his K&N and then in turn the oil messed the MAF up.

3. Did you do a search on the Green filters because all of the AMG V8's from 1998 to 2k2 4.3 and 5.5l share the same air filter.

4.Search in the CLK55,C43 or W210 E55 section. I have them and ordered them thru a friend of mine.

5. When you chg the O2 sensors PLEASE chg all four at one time. Go to the dealer for them. About 80 to 90.00 bucks a piece I believe.

i dont have problem with the maf (i dont have any codes)i just want to clean itr since the previous owner never changed the air filters and the airbox was pretty dirty and i guess the maf is dirty,so cleaning will not harm anything..

as for the air filters im going green just found them for 47 bux each

thanks any other inputs??

It does not have to show codes for it to be bad.
