Stranded
Got stranded 2 nights ago (Thursday) when my car failed to open or start. I drove to my friends house about 30 miles away while doing about 100-130 the entire time. When I got there and turned the car off, I got out and tried to lock the car, but it would not lock. My friend (the one that works for MB) and I fumbled around for a while, but could not get the car to lock. We then tried to start it up, but they key would not turn in the ignition either!
I'm freakin out thinking that my high speed jaunt may have done something majorly bad to my car. So we call the 1-800-FORMERCEDES number and they dispatch a tech who gets out there in abouyt 30 mins. That's pretty impressive considering that I called about 11PM.
The tech checked the battery but it was strong. He then checked the key fob, but that had a strong IR signal. He couldn't find anything that he could fix, so I had to get the car towed to the MB of Pleasanton dealer about 2 miles away the following morning.
Since the key and battery were good shape, my friend was saying that it might be a faulty ignition sensor. The techs there checked the car out and found that it was in fact the key fob that was faulty! So the car now has to sit at the Pleasanton dealer until my new chrome keys in on Tuesday. At least it wasn't anything major, and I now feel pretty good that the car can't be broken into and stolen!
So long story short, the car is going to sit at the Pleasanton dealer until Tuesday when I get my new set of chrome keys. At least I got hooked up with 2 chrome keys for about $200.

Got the keys yesterday btw and man do they look nice. They are way better in looks, weight, and feel, than the original keys.

Are you sure you used the right key?
Call me stupid... but I brought 2 keys in my pocket - one for each of my benz. I put my hand in the pocket and opened my E55 using the right key from inside my pocket... the car opened but I pulled out the one for my C55 I put the key to the ignition, it couldn't turn... I went out, tried to lock my car, it couldn't....
Just like you... I freaked out.... my cell was dead, the car was in the commercial parking lot (can't leave the car unlock of course), 11PM.... Well, I finally realized it was the wrong key but after like 15 minutes.... LOL.
