Replacing alternator and voltage regulator
Last week the "Battery/Alternator" malfunction lit up. I verified the poly-v-belt was OK. Battery is new (replaced within past 8 months). I had power and everything seemed to be OK. Figured I could wait until the weekend to diagnose and repair. The next day I started getting several malfunctions - brakes, ESP, etc., followed by loss of power.
Based on what I have read here and other sites, it sounds like an alternator and/or voltage regulator problem. Does everyone agree/disagree? If not, what else could it be?
If it is the alternator and/or voltage regulator, are there any DIY instructions/photos? What special tools are required?
Thanks in advance for the much needed assistance.
