Silver E55 - tint or no tint???
i always get my cars tinted, but i'm not so sure on my E55 with blue glass. i wonder how the usual 20-35% charcoal film would look with the blue glass?
anyone have pics of silver E55 with tint? do it or not?

Don't know if you can tell by my sig but I have 20% all around (bought the car like that) and will end up going with 35% in the near future. I like the look of the tint but I like the sun out of my face the most. Also, I don't like people to look at the back of my head or know who's in my car, especially at night and when the wife drives it.

I'm sure your already aware..but in an effort to bolster by post count - don't forget about the rubber seals on the side windows tending to scratch the tint...have seen various cures on the boards - but have left my windows OEM all around.

I have 15% all around. My car is black and the interior is black which make it even more darker at night. Over all I'm happy with it. Now I'm just worry about some dum pig to give me a hard time. but so far they don't seen to care unless they pull me over for speeding or when ever they get bored.
BTW, they can't tint this triangle area, kinda suck.

I recently had a light 35% tint from the B pillar rearwards. IMHO it looks perfect. Didn't want to go jet black as personally find that a bit threatening. With the lighter shade, the contrast from the normal blue glass between the A & B pillar & the now darker glass rear of the B pillar is less noticeable.
Company who did the tinting were brilliant. Finish looks very professional/OEM. Not surprising as they get asked to do most of the local car main dealership tinting work.
Best of all my wife approves
She doesn't need to put those crappy stick on/fall off sun protector face things on the kids windows anymore. Kids don't get uncomfortable/whine in bright sunshine. The temp. inside the car has been noticeably reduced too. Plus when you're driving around/arriving/leaving places, your friends/family can still just about see/recognise/acknowledge your kids etc.
Photo below shows car after being tinted (tried to upload, a before photo but system said something about it already having been uploaded to this website).
Do it, particularly if you have family/kids to ferry around.

Yes and for other models too. You must use a tint shop that is familiar with this problem. They must be able to offer and install felt strips on the interior of every window sill to avoid scratching.

I highlighted this concern to the window tinting company that did my car & they actually went to the trouble of taking out those rubber strips at the base of the windows & cleaning them, to remove all the crusty old crap that accumulates there & causes the scratches. The only small scratch I've got dates from before I had my windows tinted, on what was the OEM blue glass.
Should I or future owners, ever feel the need to restore the original blue OEM look, the same window tinting co. are able to easily remove the tinting film apparently, for just £30 per window.

I am not a fan of the factory blue tint on any color Merc.
I have seen a silver E55 with a tint slightly darker than mine, and I thought it looked pretty sweet.
Mine is tinted all the way through including that triangle. Use another tint shop cuz that makes no sense to have a little portion untinted.

There is a Blue tint UV protect installed by a company in Fort Lauderdale from Mercedes of Fort lauderdale. If you do an internet search for blue car tint you will find the maker and find a local installer. It was on a C class and made the factory tint look darker but blue! I think the reflective tints look best with silver but have not tinted this mercedes I currently own.

Any place that says that they cannot do that corner, or any corner no matter what kind of vehicle it is, is not a shop that you want to go to. That corner is not hard to get done perfect with no scratches as long as you go somewhere that you trust from references and past work. Michigan, however, does not have great tint shops. I lived there for four years and never found a shop that could do the corners of my E the way my shop out here in LA, CA can do it.
I have had the darkest of darkest double 5% and liked it, but now a little older and with a little nicer car, I've realized that simple 20% or 35% all around(yes including the windshield) is perfect. I do like the factory blue tint, but I would like your vehicle best with 20% or 35% all around.
I say tint it!

I haven't heard of them but again, I'm not in that part of town. I go to Cal. Tint Shop in Northridge and I know David the owner there. I have done a lot of business with him and he does excellent work and also installs the felt strips on our cars...
