A little supercharger whine

I have been hearing a little whine from the engine compartment. sort of like a supercharger. Except I don't have supercharger. So any ideas? My best guess is the belt tensioner or pully. Is it something I should worry about or just keep an eye on if it gets worse?

Oh man bad news your head gasket is worn out leaking oil on the side of you engine and you probably have the oil and coolant mixing together.

just kidding its probably your A/C compressor
Try turning it of and you will here a difference

When I was E55 shopping... I test drove one at the Volvo dealership in Cerritos... it had a "supercharger" whine.. I got excited popped the hood, no supercharger. My E55 doesn't have that sound. Thank God, but yeah... check your belts, sounds like a belt problem to me.. I'm not sure but I would say Alternator belt.

Could be a few things like the a/c compressor and belt mentioned above or a pulley. Check the belt for wear and cracks. If it still sounds bad we can take it to my buddy's shop in Pasadena if and when you have some time.

I had the same problem, it ended up being a $3800 transmission job.
Heard the same supercharger whine, it was nice for a while until my gears started to slip.

carefull if it's the belt... if it snaps you will overheat since it also drives the waterpump
