Couple of questions to you experts
Hi,
I was wondering if you could answer the below questions:
1. Is this a good deal for a lease? '99 E55 AMG, mint condition, 32500 miles, $2000 down + 1st month + taxes for $549/mo for 39 months. I am not sure if it is, it seems it should be closer to 500 than 550, given that the asking price for it if you buy (46900) sounds quite high.
2. Should I *really* be looking at a '99 E55 versus a 2000? I am well aware of the updates, however I read a post that one person mentioned his 2000 build quality and materials were much better than his '99 E55. Is this fact? That concerns me, as does the fact that with 2000, I can get free scheduled maintenance.
3. Speaking of, I've read all the posts. Are u serious u guys? Oil changes alone cost well over $100 for E55? WHY?!! Imported oil from Germany?! :p
Thank you.

WELCOME TO THE BOARD!
I am no expert. I just spend to much time on this board.
I can't comment on the lease prices but I have seen 99 E55's go in the low $40k. Compare the prices at www.kbb.com www.edmunds.com and www.nada.com . If the car has Mercedes Starmark warranty it is going to cost more for the coverage.
Personally, I have heard no real complaints about the 2000+ models or build quality. The two still share a great deal of parts. I think the free schedule maintenance is a big plus. The only advantage the 99 E55 has is the 18" silver AMG spare wheel & tire - the 2000+ models have a 17" spare on a black rim.
If money is no object and you can afford the 2000 buy it. I had a 98 E430 and all the upgrades and free service to the 2000 models made my car seem really outdated and expensive to maintain. The Mid Model updates to the W210 chassis were a lot.
Oil change for E55 would be no different than an E320 using Mobil-1 synthetic. Mobil-1 and synthetic oil is basically mandatory for engines produced for the 1998 model year and up - even the V6.
