fair price question from a newbie

What should I be paying for an E55 2002 that has 5,000 miles and is still on the MSO? Sticker is 77,900 and the dealer is looking for close to that.

For starters its a old model and second it has 5k miles on it. Just because its untitled (MSO) it still has been driven by someone else. Out here in California I see new E55's going for under 70k which is right at or very close to invoice. The wholesalers I deal with wouldnt touch it for more than 60k, the market just isnt there anymore with the new generation out and the much more powerful E55 coming next year. I think your best bet is low 60's on that car.

Edmunds has the following numbers which dont include options like Nav, CD, Designo, Ventilated Seats, or Phone but these items truly dont gather the amounts that Edmunds state one should add to the base price.

Thanks.
I was thinking it should be 65k with the new model soon to replace it, and with the miles. I wanted to hear another opinion.

I doubt low 60's will fly but I'm a check writer and they know it. I just wish I didn't like as much...

Good luck, make the offer and if they decline you can always hunt down a private party that is selling theirs for even cheaper.

E 63S Wagon Renntech, E55 Renntech, SL65, SL 55 030, ML, bunch of old ones--they come, they go...
That's a good theory, but...

most private sellers have not taken their reality medicine on these cars yet, especially on the nearly new 02's. This might be one of those cases where your better off dealing with someone reputable in the car biz. Just do your homework and you should be safe. The upside is that these are fantastic cars for $50-60k.
