P.S. This is especially true of buying new SL550's for 110k when you can buy a SL65 for that money!

over a mile in a mile of all out acceleration you would hit 155mph....
the old E55 and the new CLS550 are right about dead even. but a E550 would have spanked you.
E55 349/391 3746lbs-10.6 lbs/hp
CLS 382/391 4020lbs= 10.5 lbs/hp
E550 "/" 3888lbs= 10.1 lbs/hp
I have been worked by a E550 and by a 335i on a 1/4 miles track and ran 13.4 as the best time. they ran 13.1 consistently.

Knowing when to back off will add another year to your life and someone else. So drive safe and enjoy your car. Can't enjoy it if you are behind bar or paralyzed or even dead.
Be carefull and drive saftey!

However, there are many public roads that are hardly traveled, over a mile long, and have no cross traffic. I don't advocate racing, but it can be done "safely" on "certain" public roads.
