Just killed a CLS 550

He put up a good fight but at the end I was about 1/2 car ahead on a 1 mile run. The only mod on my car is the X-Pipe. Do you think it is that much effective?!

E55 13:209

I am a bit surprise too. The CLS 550 should be pushing north of 380 horsepower.

No Jimmy I don’t think so. He had a chick next to him and he was going for an all out show-off kill and had a little of a head start too. I wasn’t aware of his intention but once he pushed it I pushed it too and held on to that steering wheel for the fear of god. I am telling you, it was exhilarating, but I don’t think I will ever do it again on city streets. BTW, congrats on the new developements!

Ha! I know the feeling bro but yeah, be careful on the street man! Thanks and I'll let everyone know what I'm bringing home if it all works out!

I have always wandered by people buy new 550's instead of a slightly used 55's or 63's

P.S. This is especially true of buying new SL550's for 110k when you can buy a SL65 for that money!

I agree 100%. For me technology has always took a back seat to nostalgia. And with this recent experience now I have more respect for old school workmanship.

Actually what I meant to say was that new body, but slightly used CLS55 or CLS63 costs as much as brand new CLS550... so its unclear to me why people would prefer to buy a brand new, but lesser performance car, instead of a 2,000 mile old used car with far better performance.

Chill out. I'm sure it was a public road in Mexico or Canada.

I dont believe it.....at all

over a mile in a mile of all out acceleration you would hit 155mph....

the old E55 and the new CLS550 are right about dead even. but a E550 would have spanked you.

E55 349/391 3746lbs-10.6 lbs/hp
CLS 382/391 4020lbs= 10.5 lbs/hp
E550 "/" 3888lbs= 10.1 lbs/hp

I have been worked by a E550 and by a 335i on a 1/4 miles track and ran 13.4 as the best time. they ran 13.1 consistently.

May be the X-Pipe does more than what we think it does for the W210 E55 engine?!

A mile is a long way and you never know what going to happen especially on a public road. Some one kids or family might pull out in front of you. I never had an accident that was my fault in 20yr of having a driver license. I can't imagine how it would feel if I hurt or killed someone with my car even if it was just an accident. How would one feel if someone you know or a love one die because someone was street racing and caused the accident.

Knowing when to back off will add another year to your life and someone else. So drive safe and enjoy your car. Can't enjoy it if you are behind bar or paralyzed or even dead.

Be carefull and drive saftey!

I'm not disputing any of this, as the consequences of these actions can be seen in what happened to BluMax in the 211 threads.

However, there are many public roads that are hardly traveled, over a mile long, and have no cross traffic. I don't advocate racing, but it can be done "safely" on "certain" public roads.
