I recently changed my oil and used royal purple. When I filled the tank with gas, I put in a bottle of Lucas injector cleaner. I drive almost 90 miles a day from home to school and back, and noticed a huge improvement in gas mileage. I saved about a quarter tank that week. I usually go through a quarter tank a day.
So this was great, but the cleaner cost $5...which could be the difference in that much of gas. The next fill up I didn't add anything to the gas, and noticed regular gas mileage.
Has anyone else noticed or done this? I noticed Auto Zone sells a bigger one good for about 10 tanks of gas for about $10.
I'm only sayings this as something I've experienced and thought I'd share with everyone.
Comments welcome.

I know it's a good thing and tried it a couple of times. My father-in-law is a UPS mechanic and he loves that Lucas stuff. I just drive a few miles a day to work so havn't really reaped the benifit like you have.

I am not sure about gas mileage improvements....but I swear by the additive Chevron Techron. I add a bottle of "fuel system cleaner" to my gas tank about once every other month. Since adding it, my car idles so smooth people often think its not even running!
The engine just purrs and my car explodes off the line as quick as heck!
I learned about the Techron additive back when I owned an older Alfa Romeo 164S....it ran like crap and I thought it may require new injectors or something. A friend of a friend who worked on Alfa's told me to try a bottle or two of Techron....the car ran like new after about 3 days of driving with it in my tank.
So....if any of your E55's are running rough, or if you feel that power is lacking....you may wish to spend between $6-10 bucks on a large (treats 20 gallons) bottle of Techron!

I havent yet used anything on my 55 but I used on several 560SECs I have owned I have used the stuff called BG44K which at the time I was told that some Porsche dealers recommend, and it worked wonders on my engines specially older ones with higher miles, will try it soon on my 55 and report.
Any members heard of or used the BG44K ?

Most cleaners will work just as good, but my instructor at school said he used Lucas. I thought I'd give it a try since he's been an engine builder for over 40 years and raced cars for about 25 of them.

i've tried techron, and i've tried lucas oil injector cleaner..... but honestly neither comes even close to Seafoam. seafoam is the best engine cleaner you can buy, its a tad pricier but well worth every penny.

Don't think I've heard of it. Where can you get it?

Most all the auto parts stores carry all the fuel additive. Check out: Auto Zone, O'Rieley, Pet Boys and NAPA. Seaform is about $6.99 for a 16 oz. can.Originally Posted by xlr8tin

I put a bottle of Lucas fuel injector cleaner in my tank today....because so many of you "recommended" it.
I will drive through this tankful and see how my car idles and performs....I think all the previous bottles of Techron that I've added may have done their job to clean up my fuel system enough so that this Lucas additive won't make much of a difference. I will be interested to see if I get better gas mileage out of my car now however.....
I have been getting 23-25 when I am strictly driving on the freeway someplace...and I average 18-20 overall city/hwy between my fillups currently. If I get better than 20 mpg with this Lucas additive in my tank...its a proven winner!
I just hope this additive doesn't somehow set off the MAF or any other electronic sensors in my engine!

no it wont. has nothing to do with MAF. injectors are just before valves theres no way it can go backwards. nor will it affect O2 sensors or anything.
Seafoam will yield even better results but lucas is very good as well. Also do an ECU reset when you do this it will help quickly adapt to the newer cleaner running conditions.
I will have pics of seafoam and how well it cleaned my heads once I get the pics posted.

I think I'll have to jump on the band wagon and put some Lucas in my engine with an ECU reset. can't wait to hit the road and open her up!!!

I drive an 01 Suzuki Esteem with 144k miles and over time have gone from 35 mpg to about 30 it equals 400 miles per tank to about 360 +/-. My family just took a trip to Yellowstone and I used Lucas Injector Cleaner to see if it would improve mileage for the drive. Talk about improvement...! I averaged about 38-40 MPG. I have a 12+ gallon tank and one small bottle treats 25 gallons. I poured the whole bottle in to really clean it. When I noticed the difference I poured more in on the next tank to make sure it was clean. Again fantastic mileage. On the way home I figured by now the injectors were clean so I didn't put any cleaner in. Now i'm back to my old mileage. I like getting the high mileage but i'm thinking perhaps it is rocket fuel in a bottle. If it was cleaning the injectors, the mileage would go back towards the original mileage not exceed it. Also when I don't put it in my "clean injectors" would still get good mileage. I recommend it if you want tank by tank good mileage.

Hmm interesting findings.... My olddddddd russian mechanic told me about Techron years ago I would put in my 03 S500 2 botttles on every oil change and I always noticed faster acceleration and how smooth the gears where changing
I'm getting the same results on the E55 as well
He also told me to buy a box and that I could never have enough....

What, did you all think I was lying
It's great stuff. I'll have to try it on my new car. I only have 5k miles on it, so I wonder what change if at all it will do.

First, good question. Go tothe store and find the measurement of the small bottle then go home and fill it with the same amount.Originally Posted by E55DC

ECU reset, Turn the key to the on position, foot on gas for 5 sec, turn key to off position, foot off gas, wait 5-10 minutes than start car.

Bought it from Ebay as I cant find it over here in the UK so any info on the measurement would be grateful.

It is 155ml per at least 1/2 to a full gas tank. CheersOriginally Posted by E55DC

My S 430 was having a hot no start condition! I replaced the camshaft, and crankshaft position sensors. Neither one solved my problem. Because I bought the car used, I assumed that the previous owner maintained the car because it ran so smooth when I bought it 3 months ago. 3 weeks ago the car started to not start when hot. I would have to wait at least five hours for it to cool down enough to start. I noticed this problem after replacing the cars' original fuel filter. I thought that the fuel pump was causing this problem so I replaced that too. The problem continued to happen. Then I read an article that said dirty fuel injectors can stick open and leak into the combustion chamber. That's when I thought to myself that the previous owner probably never put fuel injector cleaner in this car! I bought a bottle of Lucas fuel injector cleaner, added it to a full tank of gas, and after driving 50 miles it started when hot. I guess when all else fails the easy fix is the right fix!
Wow, that's awesome. I'm glad that helped. Yea, whenever I figure out a problem it always seems to be the simple things I overlook that are the problem. Weird though I definately would have said CPS. I had that problem on my E55 a year ago, with same problems...Good luck with your S class.

I have been using lucas for years....was a little skeptical putting it in the Benz ,but definetly a good feeling comes over the car._
