Are you going to take it to drag strip to see what the 1/4 mile times are after all the weight reduction?
Resonator is 24lbs reduction. Spare tire & tools is exactly 50 lbs (Mercedes does this on purpose). Going with an odyssey PC680 you acn drop another 50lbs from battery alone, crank pulley another 4lbs, and there are more things you can do.
Honestly I ended up selling my E55 b/c I realized if I wanted to do any more weight savings above that it would be best to just sell myc ar and get CLK55 AMG (W208) so thats exactly what I did. You can get a 208 CLK down from its 3450 down into the 3300s or even 3200s with the right mods. With our same drivetrain and those weight numbers that would be a killer combo. To me the 208 in the 3200s would be the best AMG platform... but thats just my opinion.

thanks for that info on the battery and any other that you can add will definately look into that, regarding the clk that would be a super sleeper, because these cars are so expensive to mod, diet with 40-50hp increase is worth looking into.
what do you guys think of using 2 oem spair rim with drag radials or possible 4,with a little wider in rear, front currently 235/45/17 and feels very light
Odyssey PC680 is only 11 lbs. Stock is roughly 60-61 lbs, its massive. Dunno if anyone has actually seen their battery its under the rear passenger seat. The thing literally looks like it could power the Hoover Dam its so big.

What is the purpose of switching between Drc36 and E55 pwr in the same thread?
Black Beast , though I haven't weighed it yet but here are the mods to lighten it up so far
Lighter wheels/tires---
Kleeman headers- downpipes
Stock air bo removed with custom cone air intake system
Resonator delete
Recaro front seats
Lighter battery --
Deleted rear seat
No spare tire
Mercedes are heavy vehicles. I haven't weighed my W210 but my W211 came in at 4220 pounds with a half-tank of fuel. Compare that to my heavily modified Miata (~280 rwhp) that weighed in at 2180 pounds with a half-tank of fuel. These Mercedes are heavy and I feel it every time I switch between either of my E55s and the Miata. Completely different beasts.
And it is sort of cool to see a thread resurrected from sixteen years ago...
I always enjoy driving the E55 because it is relatively light especially compared to modern vehicles. 350/390 hp/tq pushing 3800 pounds. My CL is a super nice car, but I can certainly feel its weight. 560/660 pushing 4800 pounds. Quicker, faster for sure but the stopping and cornering thing.
BTW: just from a physics perspective, the removal of rotational mass will have an additive effect as you are reducing both linear and rotational inertial components.
