E55 in MercedesEnthusiast Magazine.
(i) One comment which is puzzling me was their reference to the need to restore the original AMG wheels as often as 10,000 miles. I hope that's not the case, as I am getting ready to put 4 AMG E55 wheels on my 97 E420...
(ii) how many miles are you guys getting on your tires...?
thanks,
AL

(ii) The rear tires have a short life span which is partly due to the great amount of torque our beasts provide. Depending on your driving habits, they will hit the tread-wear bar somewhere in the 8K - 12K mark. The tread-wear rating is relevant here. I believe OEM is 220. I reached the 10K mark the last time. I am currently running 340. Let's see how long those last.

Last question: What's the stock wheel gap from top of wheel to bottom of the fender on a E55? I have lowered springs, which created around 1 1/2 inch gap...?
I might upgrade to a 2002 E55 at some point, for now I'm really just adding
E55 wheels to my 1997 because it's the only wheel I like for the 210 bodystyle...
thanks,
