Glad to be of service, moral of the story there are better places to spend money than software if you don't have that many mods (I SELL software and I'm saying this ). Just giving honest opinion.

Feel free to email tech questions anytime, always here to help.

I've found that tires really make a big difference on this car. The suspension is really pretty decent, especially for such a big car. I ditched my Toyo's for Sumitomo HTRZ3's and am much happier.

If you switch the all seasons for a summer tire, I imagine you'll see a big performance difference. Although in MA, I'm sure you'd need winter tires a good bit of the year.

They stick pretty well actually, wet/dry. I try to burn out sometimes just to see, but it isn't as easy as it was with my bald Michie pilots. lol

I agree with Saintz, tires make a HUGH difference!

Plus, I got a ridiculously great deal on them, thanks to my boy Maxmilion!

This thread might be helpful.
https://mbworld.org/forums/wheels-ti...nce-value.html

The Sumitomo's I currently only have on the front. I think, based on the front traction, that they would be a good choice for the rear as well. Unless you're going to go with a real track oriented tire (Dunlop Direzza Star, Falken 615, Kumho MX), I think the Sumitomo HTRZ3 is about the best choice. Maybe the Vredestein, but I couldn't find any good comparisons on that one against other tires, only comments that they are "very good." Note the Sumitomo HTRZ2 is supposed to basically suck, you need the HTRZ3.

I have General Exclaim USPs on the rear. I do not recommend these for the rear of an E55. They're probably ok for the front, or for an E320, but they simply can't put the rear torque down on the E55, especially if the steering wheel is pointed anywhere but straight ahead. Flashing yellow lights galore.

The Direzza Z1 star specs are by far the best tire I have ever tried. They put pilot sports to shame (literally 150-200% more grip than pilot sport PS2s, at a fraction of the cost). The Z1s literally have as much grip as R-compound tires yet last a long time. There is a reason they are #1 on tire rack, they are the best tire on the market. The only other tire I've tried with nearly as much grip in the dry is Kuhmo MX, but it lacks the precise feel of the Z1s due to softer sidewalls, therefore Z1 is still better.

If you want max grip, Z1 is the only real option (trust me on this one).

Sorry to jack the thread AMS, but have you tried the Falken 615 and can you compare that to the Direzza Star?

I had them for a short while, but immediately replaced them. They are decent tires and good for the money, but they aren't in the same league as Direzza Z1, in fact there are only 2-3 tires on market that come even close.

Looks like AMS has some performance ECU to replace the OEM ones. This will be great to match up with the Kleemann headers.

Hmm I'm not even sure if these guys are actually still in business I'll have to e-mail my contact that just bought out Omey.

and wow.. I just read my comments getting the last page 1999 and I still have this car! This is the longest I ever owned a car before, goes to show you the quality and craftsman work put into these hand built AMG's. I plan on keeping her once I'm done with all the upgrades /headers/tune and moving on to CLS55 I know for fact I'll kick myself in the As$ if I were to sell her.

Interesting enough before I bought the E55 I came from a 04 S500 sport and never looked back.

They sold out to a company called german power tuning or something like that.

I think you may be S.O.L
