haters crazy
How much hp does an x-pipe really give? I had to remove mine on saturday to fit two resonators on the pipes. My car was so loud it was driving me crazy! Kleemann headers to dual 3" pipes to x-pipe to dual magnaflow mufflers.

On the stock exhaust system, it gives 8 wheel HP on the dyno. It could give more low end torque but that is impossible to measure because W210 transmissions do not really allow you to dyno anything under 3500rpm.

The X-pipe mod is really meant to work best on the stock system. There is no point in changing the stock rear catback, it is the best muffler for these cars. Upgraded cats and shorty headers though do greatly improve performance while still giving a good exhaust note (Check our Stage 2 Performance package for the E55 for more info). Long tube headers & primary cat delete start to make the exhaust really loud and at times unbearable. They do make the most power but you have to sacrifice a lot in order to use them.

Hope that helps.

if the two aftercats are removed and resonator is replaced with an x pipe is the sound increase going to be too much, to the point of being annoying or not?

Well, I know a guy that knows the junk guy. So i'm guessing I got more money than they would normally give...

Give it a shot, even if they give $50-$100 each. Better than nothing...

I have heard anywhere from $50-150 for the pair depending on the size of the cats.

Why you remove the secondary cats & not the primary? the primary afect much more the exhaust gas flow cause that irrumpt the flow just in the end of exhaust manifold (in this site are the critical flow resistance). i understand the part of the "CHECK" LIGHT turns on when you remove the primarys BAD.. but setting the ME solve this issue (remove the secondary not have this problem) YES. but in case of performance the primary cats deleted result in more benefit than the second's. are you agree]? or have some info that i do not have

Thanks in advance

well it depends actually. The primary cats are actually much smaller and they are metal core cats designed to handle much more heat. The secondaries are much larger ceramic cats which are more prone to degrading and even braking up giving you that horrible marbles rattle sound coming from underneath the car. Upgrading secondaries will still give you a decent performance gain and a bit more sound without giving you CEL light and etc. Modding primary cats is also more difficult because the area is very tight and it hard to weld there and also the O2 bungs are directly before & after the cats so there isn't much room to work.

Hope that helps.

they will IF you upgrade or replace with another set of cats. They will not just remove them and put in straight pipes, its illegal.

2.5" will do the job, The outer diameter of stock piping is roughly 2.35" so there will bit a little bit of a gap but any decent exhaust shop can make it a perfect fit, its very easy to expand or contract pipe down to proper size.

He is relisting more soon, We always get that brand for our customers and order from them quite frequently. They have performed very well and proved to be very reliable and provide excellent HP gains, especially when you consider they are OBD2 compliant and 49 state legal.

its the video, its hard to replicate the sound with video b/c majority of the bass is so deep that the camera mic can't pick it up. virtually zero rasp with X-pipe & high flow resonators. Now if you start deleting cats... the rasp can pick up.
