sport suspension mode

Hi,

does anyone have any experience of whether keeping the E55 in sports suspension mode increases wear on the suspension?

4 wheeled car.
What sport suspension mode? You must have posted in the wrong section, you have a W211? If so, I don't know. You'd think it would since it lowers it 10mm/15mm or whatever it is in S1/S2, but you should be just fine.

If you have a W210, you might be thinking of "W" Winter and "S" Summer? In winter mode the car starts off in 2nd. Or maybe i'm an idiot and completely wrong! hahaha

You're not an idiot (or maybe we both are). I came to the same conclusion.

I'm sure its a 210 but its a 2000 facelift model, isn't the 211 completely different? it has the winter/standard switch on the gearshift section but has a sports suspension button as well.

The system used on the W210 is ADSII.
The ADS system was first introduced on the W140.

You can read more about it here:
http://www.whnet.com/4x4/dynamics.html
And here
http://www.v12uberalles.com/Adaptive_Damping_System.htm

I usually leave it in "normal" mode and use the sport mode for inspired driving or driving fast on the highway.
Thinking the harder damper setting putts more stress on the rest of the suspension system.

buttons

Not sure how Merc sorts out arranging buttons as it seems that there is not enough room had the original owner of my car specified every option.

Bottom row there is parktronic, boot (trunk) release, mirror setting, mirror retract and then the rear blinds. One odd thing is that the passenger mirror only dips on reversing if the setting control is on that mirror. I don't get to look at the manual much but I remember seeing a tyre low pressure switch thing that I don't have.

Maybe discussing added extras should be a new thread. Only thing I miss is elegance trim - like my wood!!
