Bench racing an 01 E55

Anyone care to take a guess at 1/4 mile times and speeds?

I have a 2001 W210 E55. 88K miles on her and runs great. Mods include VRP shorty headers, X-pipe (resonator delete), underdrive pulleys, W211 air boxes with green filters and an ECU reflash. The package, which I have not yet dyno'd is said to add 50 horsepower to the car. This would bring HP approximately to 395 @ the flywheel.

So, possible to see 12.99 @ 108 mph at the strip?

If not, what do you folks think this car would run?

I have a friend that wants to run me. He has an 05 Mustang GT with some light mods. Best run of 13.3 @ 103 mph. Would you bet on the E55 or the Stang?

You should be able to hit 12.9-13.0 and trap 110+. Run the Stang...

Yes, a high 12 is possible, maybe even a 12,7-12,9 if you can get those back wheels to grip! Maybe with some drag tires

My car trapped 112 Mph in N/A with Kleemann headers, exhaust and ECU. And 112 mph trap = ~ 12,5 sec with nice grip!

Ohh, and yes, you shouldn't have any problem beating that Mustang up! 103 Mph is what a stock W210 55 does if it's in a nice condition.

Michelin Pilot Sport 275/30-19, they are bald now and i need to buy new ones. Any one know if there is a cheaper tire out there with lots of grip?

I run the same but in 275/35/18 this discussion has been talked about for ever! The Pilots wear waaaaay to quick $$$ I'm going on two sets of rear tires and my fronts are still like new The boyz in the W211AMG swear by Vredestein

I'm gong to try these next

You should destroy the Stang in the topend.

In terms of tires, I have toyo T1Rs and have been real happy with them, excellent grip, already put 6k on them and they still do great even in the rain.

VIDEO!! If possible? Be safe though...

I'm running Toyo Proxes 4's. I'm happy with them, good traction wet or dry.

E55 definitely faster!

Well, I had the chance to run my friends 05 Mustang GT.

Unfortunately the weather here in Minnesota still sucks. We had 41 degrees and wet roads as it had rained just 30 minutes before we ran the cars. I have to say I was happy with my E55. We tried one dig race and it was a disaster on the cold wet road. The Mustang jumped out of the hole and I played catch-up till around 80 mph when I overtook the Stang.

The second race is a more accurate depiction. A rolling start at 45 mph. If you listen carefully, you here the mustang excellerate about a second before I do. This gave him a slight lead which the E quickly reclaims.

The video is shot from the passenger seat of the Stang. Enjoy!

Sumitomo HTRZ3 is supposed to grip nearly the same. Way cheaper.

Good run. However next time it should be on a track though.
I'm sure you'll be getting a much better result.

Sweet run!

Did you go full auto on the dig, or did you shift?

Nice video.

Anyone run a SS Camaro circa 98-02?

My boy has an 02 SS slightly modified with exhaust, upgraded tranny, intake and some other stuff. On paper I think were close, but I have dying to run against him.

I rode in an SS with exhaust, tranny, and intake. It could break traction at low highway speeds, i.e. 2nd to 3rd gear shift. Little mods can go a big way on that car, so he may have more power than he thinks or than he's letting on.

I went auto mode. On my car anyways, it seems as if the first to second shift just takes for ever in manual mode.

For what its worth, my G-tech run was 13.44 @ 110.8 mph.

I'll get the other dig video posted. My launch sucked!
