I dont recommend Royal purple for daily street use. But, it does make more horsepower than any other oil I have used.

I used royal purple in my e36 m3 from 160k to 210k and it did great, only burnt half a quart per 2,000mi. I haven't used it in the e55 yet though, just mobil 1.

I used RP in my E55. Didn't burn any oil, and was great. I don't see the problem.

First off, there is very little info in that thread at all so who knows what the real situation could have been. Second off, oil weight can play a big factor with regards to oil burning regardless of the brand. If you run 0w-30 Mobil 1 synthetic you can burn that off ridiculously quick, that doesn't mean mobil1 is the worst oil on earth or etc.

Personally I've never had to ever add 1 quart of RP due to burn off ... ever, and I've been using it for 6+ years in many different European cars, if anything I would say it burns off less than other oils in my experience (especially with M3, mobil1 was absolutely terrible, RP fixed all my problems, both lifter tick & burn off). But again, different cars with different engines so its hard to compare apples & oranges. RP still is the best oil out there for performance.

With that said, ran it in the E55 in both the engine & diff, the car definitely loved it car ran smoother and performed better. I highly recommend it for the W210 E55s.

+1 My Transmission Loves RP.... gears change like silk. Also for those at 60k+ miles make sure to change out trany fluid as MB originally stated it was good for 100k miles but then turned around and recommended to change it at 60k miles

I've been running 0w-40 RP for the last 5 oil changes. Never once have I had to refill it. I did however have to top off the mobil-1 every now and then at the same weight. I think it works great and fell the engine idles much smoother also.

Maybe one can try 300V competition Motul (15w50 to my hot coutry) have 10w40 & 0w30.. awesome oil, little hi cost, but... works extreme good, when you dissarm one engine with 300V competition you can appreciate why this oil is not cheap!

I never have problems with Mobil 1 really, for me is a very good oil & mantain a good reputation in my coutry., the RP is not available here i don't have experience with this.

I've used and or use Mobil1, Elf, Motul, and Royal Purple.

Motul oil is great when its fresh, However his gets smoked fast. If you use Motul open up your oil cap and if you smell a repulsive noise burning chemical smell than your Motul oil is smoked.

I used Royal Purple when i first got my C55 and I ALWAYS found myself down a QT. Changed my oil with RP again and same thing always down a QT. The stuff makes power on the dyno no doubt about it.

Elf oil is good stuff I got no complaints. I used it for one oil change and didnt notice any difference from Mobil1

I'm now using Mobil1 again. Its easy to get at the local parts store and it works well.

You try the 300V competition?? motul oil is smoked? never ever never have this issue in my car, maybe, i can say the 300V competition is the most efficient/cleaner engine/performance at hi temps & max protection at very hi rpm's, oil i use in some cars (we use this oil in a M3 E30 2.5 Evo track car with 13.2:1 compression ration & the results after amount of races in crank & connecting roads are ""awesome"")

Anyway.. for me the Mobil 1 is a very good performance oil, including Mobil 1 Syntec ATF
