200 E55/difficult starting
My 2000 E55 at 66k has developed an interesting quirk and I need a bit of counsel before it goes to the dealer for a look/see and repair.
On a regular basis, after a fill up and a secure tightening of the gas cap, the car is very hard to start. And, sometines with the car in park and with the engine running, the engine quits.
This happens in normal temperatures and is happening a bit more frequently than before
Is this a tank pressure problem or a fuel pump problem?
I would appreciate any ideas and thoughts.
Thanks

problem persists
I had my local guys change the filter and test the fuel pump. The fuel pump is testing to 58 psi and is on spec.
Tonight on the way home, the engine stopped in heavy stop and go traffic with no warning lights prior to stopping. After 15 minutes I was finally able to get it re started...again no warning lights.
Is there anything else I should look for before it goes into MB for another round of problem solving?
Thanks

Thanks for the counsel on this It is going into my local MD dealer for the Service A and to get this engine stopping problem addressed. I will write up the suggestions I have had from youall and give that to them so they can go to the recommended solutions first. I am quite thankfull I bought the extended warranty when I bought the car from the original owner!!
I will let you know what the solution is for this. I love this ride and plan on keeping it. But, it is my business car and I have to have it 100% reliable.

Well you were spot on on the diagnostic...thank you all. The local MB dealer service folks tested the crank sensor and it was almost totally shot. Great call

The part was 137.00 plus labor. Around here, Chicago metro, labor at the MB dealers is around 100.00 per hour. Fortunately I have the extended warranty so it was covered on this. Again, thanks for the guidance.
