2000 E55/digital dash light problem

Gents;

Bear with me on this.

Two of my digital dash lights, the mileage and the time work fine. The outside temperature is very faint and is non readable in the daylight.
I have worked the up and down arrows to vary the intensity with no luck.

Am I overlooking something? If not, how much of a pain is this going to be to get fixed and what should I tell the tech guys at the MB dealer to look for?

You were spot on on my crank sensor problem and I need some more wisdom on this. I am too OCD about this car not to get this fixed!!

Thanks

You only need to replace the temp gauge bulb but, you need to unmount the cluster & change it (is a little osram behind the gauge, but i recommend you, if you do not have experience with that, go to you local dealer & they can fix it & is not expensive, because some people broke the cluster / glass trying to unmount them

You can pry it out with fingers and maybe a coat hanger (search for coat hanger and cluster for instructions). There's also an official tool for removal. It's not terribly fragile, but some people have had bad luck, as Fabio said.

The bulb is hard to find at the local auto parts store. The bulbs you'll find are probably too long to fit. Your best bet may be to buy a bag of 10 off ebay or just buy the one from the dealer for a few bucks.
