Thumbs down Winter Tires

Preparing for a bad Chicago winter and looking for a tire recommendation for my 2002 E55. Choices so far are Blizzak LM-60 , Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3, Yokohama W-Drive in 245/40/18 all the way around on the monoblocks. Most important thing would be snow and ice traction. Had a hard time getting out of my driveway last year on summer Perelli's.

German vehicles stink, will never buy again. Moved on to Toyota and BYD.
I have dunlop winter sport tire on my mono's... I found them to be really great on my S600. Only problem was that they were directional and can be difficult reversing (sometimes).

I would find a 17" set of E430 wheels and put 235-45-17 tires on. I would only get a speed rated snow tire unless you don't mind shredding a pair each season on the rears(the Q rated ones don't last long).

winter tires will be at least $1000 for just a few months, winter beater just a few grand more and can be a DD to save mileage on the ol' AMG

We don't have bad enough winters here to warrant snow/winter tires, however if it does snow, just forget about driving the AMG on the hills and never flat streets of Portland.

i have 3 good bridgestone blizzak LM-25V that i can let go for cheap.

tread is about 80%. I have no use for them as i live in Cali. they were on the E55 when i bought it.

size is 245/40/18 for all 3.

let me know if you're interested.
