2002 E55 W210 stock
radio head unit and seats
hopefully not sacriledge to purists but....
My 2002 E55 is just about the perfect car for me, after 4 years it has two fairly minor complaints. 1) as well as being basic pride and joy it's a daily work driver and I'm on the phone a lot. I'm wondering about changing Comand to a Kenwood 7140 deck for the new Nav maps and Bluetooth. My car has a Startac, and not easy to convert to bluetooth otherwise. Also, the seats don't fit me as well as the 211 chairs. ` So I'm considering either buying a 2006 211, or changing the deck and maybe the seats in my 210. The 210 body is like new, and has been maintained well, which makes me a little hestitant to sell. Just looking for input.

As much as I love my 210, I would drop it in a beat for a well maintained 211. The problem I have getting rid of the 210 AMG is that it is SO much car for the $. Granted, there are cars that smell newer, that look a bit newer, but don't get confused with how much car it is for the $.
The only thing I'm nervous about on the 211 is the air suspension. At least brakes aren't as taxing on the wallet.
As far as your note on the stereo goes I wish I could say more, but I took out everything and replaced it with aftermarket within 2 weeks of owning the car. I'm not a fan of factory navigation systems. Right now I just have my favorite classic Alpine head unit and a little Navigon unit to the left of the wheel on the windshield. I love the Navigon unit, it shows the maps just how I like them although I wish there was an option that would keep me more on main roads rather than shortest/optimal route.

I'm with you. MB replaced 4 doors, a trunk, and 2 fenders last year for a little rust, and it is like new. I'm also not sure which body style I like better. Was there any problem replacing the stereo head unit?

Head unit replacement is pretty easy. Do you want the steering wheel buttons to still work? That will require an adapter.
There is a W211 E55 listed in the classifieds for $24k. Not a bad price if you decide to change.
