Because of the large braking system, you would need a bigger spare tire that wouldn't fit the spare tire compartment in your trunk any more.
This applys to most AMG models, but to make sure, just check the standard Mercedes-Benz price list if a spare tire is a selectable option for your model.

Should have a spare!
They could have put a full size spare tire in that trunk. All they needed was a 18X7.5 rim with a 235/40/18 tire. This would have been sufficient for front and back temporary use.
The US 1999 W210 E55 spare is 245/40/18 on 18X8 rim. The 2000-2002 E55 was downsized to 235/45/17 on 17X7.5 rim.
