Production

Does anyone know the official production numbers for the 99 E55? Also, is there someway to determine which car in the series I have?

I think that getting an exact number would be difficult to discover. Other than the standard answer of 500 or so per year for the US. Good Luck.

MBUSA lists 1199 E55 for US delivery in 2000 but no listing for 1999. This can be found under Starmarked section, models.

That's amazing - I would have never quessed more than the standard 500+ per year and 2000 unit total (99-02) for the US market that was previously advertised.

Reliable production numbers are very hard to come by, and whenever they're printed in the car mags they must be interpreted with caution. Particularly for limited production vehicles, the manufacturers WANT to create the impression that numbers are low to enhance perceived value/scarcity. At the same time they want to sell more units than they lead the media to believe are being produced. Reliable numbers are often unavailable until well "after the fact".

E55 AMG Estate W210 1998

Any ideas on number of E55 AMG Estate/Touring produced please. I have a 1998 Estate & would be delighted to find out number imported into the UK. I can't remember ever seeing another E55 AMG Estate W210 on the road, mind you I've only just got it, so perhaps not looking out for them previously. I'll send AMG in Germany an email. Fingers crossed for a helpful reply.
