Question on rotors
I have read many posts that state that front rotors for the W210 E55 are only available OEM.
In fact my checking online seems to bear that out.
I had my 1999 e55 in for oil change at my mechanic this Sunday and he informed me that in about 5000 miles I will need rotors.
Told him I will get the OEM rotors and bring them in.
He said he will check if there are any after market available.
He called up a supply shop and he stated they have them for $140 or $175 a piece
I didn’t ask him more since I was in a rush.
Any thoughts?

Go to www.brakeworld.com - Disc Italia's are available for your car.The C43 & E55 (W210) use the same rotors. I have the Disc Italia's on the front of my C43.

not sure if a direct fit and probably less braking power but the W210 E430 4Matic uses the same aftermarket front brake pad as the E55 and perhaps, just a guess the rotor is swapable.

Yes, for sure. Use any brake pad purchase lookup like tirerack.com and see that the aftermarket pad is the same part number. I put a front set on my Brother-In-Laws E430 4Matic and my E55 and both used the same Akebono EUR682 pad. So the caliper and rotor must be similar somewhat but I am not saying the same because I don't know for sure.

There are really no aftermarket front rotors for an E55. For the price of the Disc Italia rotors, I would just get the OE ones because they are quite a piece of engineering. Find out for sure from your mechanic, otherwise he might be trying to put E430 rotors on.
You can get OE rotors here for $244 each plus shipping.

Many have ordered from here on Benzworld, including myself.
OR
You can order them from www.parts.com for $190 each. Do an OEM parts search for the following part numbers. These should be drop shipped from an Mercedes Dealer in IL
210-421-1812 (driver's side)
210-421-1912 (pass side)
Get the Akebono Euro pads from Tirerack. Less dust, equal/better braking.

Disc Italia's are $475 for the set.....cheaper and better than OEM.

In my post I said you can get OEM for $190 each. That's $380 a set. I highly doubt Italia's are that much better for an additional $100.
I'm sure everyone here would love to see brake test results of stock rotors vs. Italia's.

I'll take cross-drilled and slotted over the stocks anyday.

If you're cheap, why'd you get an AMG? Nothing is cheap on these cars. Insurance, gas, parts. Brakes are probably more expensive on a W210 AMG than any other Mercedes except the Carbon Ceramics or Black Series.
