All,
MB EuroSpec Springs arrive early next week. Couple of items to any that have lowered their cars.
1) In general, can any competent shop (that does shocks and springs) with a regular spring compression tool compress (remove and install) springs for the W210 E55 or are special MB tools needed. (Don't want anything damaged).
2) Do you recommend an alignment immediately after lowering or should I wait a while for suspension components to "settle".
Just trying to get it done right the first time.
Regards,
AA

aarkaah please take some before and after pics of your car. I have an 02 E55 and am ready to lower it but have seen too many pictures W210's with the front sitting higher than the rear and I dont want the "I have drugs in my trunk" look. I want a smooth raked look. My W202 is lowered on Eibachs and its perfect but that doesnt seem to be an option on the W210. Please take lots of pictures!

Thanks "aarkaah" sorry by the dissaster round the car! but..
Yes, you need to align ur car after mount your euro springs (Front/Rear) the height in our cars affect very much the Camber/Caster specs. And take a chance to check too your control arm bushing, terminals, joints, etc. Drive safe ur beautiful ride

Desired Speeds... E55MKB confirms camber kit not needed. I will be installing this Friday.
Re: Question on Suspension Setup
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I did not do the alignment right away but subsequently the alignment was done without any problem.

I do have some other questions:
1) Did you have to perform an alignment afterwards?
2) If so, were you able to get the alignment done correctly without changing out camber arms/links.. (saw some posts regarding this)?

I'm sure is not needed a camber kit cause the Euro spec cars comes with this factory height.! i'm sure is not needed.. Aarkaah, is not extremly needed but i recommend you align ur car after install, cause your car are actually aligned by the stock suspension & any drop affect the camber in our cars. Not to much... but i recommend you fix the camber to save your front tire wear.. Save tires - Save money

Fabio,
It will be done - I posted E55MKBs response as it indicated an alignment was successfully performed without need of a camber kit. Trust me alignment will follow within a day or two.

I finally got my suspension modifications installed (plus Calipers painted) and here are my initial impressions.
Current Wheels: 19" Vossen VVS075 - Gloss Black on Nittos
Koni FSDs: Approx $610 - Tire Rack
MB EuroSprings: Approx $510 - Evosport
G2 Caliper Paint: Add-Onz Local Install Shop Allentown, PA. (bundled price with job done)
Total Install Cost (including Calipers): $395.00 (tax included) – Excellent Local Shop.
My Goal(s):
1. Improved Handling – with slightly stiffer ride quality.
2. Improved Look – remove the ghastly gap between the front wheel wells and wheels.
3. No Rubbing – Must be able to carry 4 grown adults sans rubbing or bottoming.
Drop impression(s):
Post install my car now sits about .75" lower than it used to be. I am hoping it settles a little bit further. The height, all around, from ground to top of the wheel well went from about 27" to 26.25". In all honesty, my greatest fear was in using a kit that went too low.
Looking at the car now, I would say I am extremely happy about the rear height but wish the front had gone down another .5". In comparison to other setups, IMHO H&R and Koni adjustables sit the rears and fronts too low. At this point in time, I am still able to insert a finger between the top of the wheel wells (previously I could use two fingers).
Handling Impression(s):
The car still drives like my E55. The ride is not bone-jarring in anyway. Although the Konis are a little bit stiffer than stock, they could be stiffer. The real icing was a surprise to me - cornering. Cornering is phenomenal - no lean... car holds beautifully.
Caliper Painting:
Okay I went into this one thinking well if the wheels are off then I might as well. Holy - this is a must do for anyone that has replaced their original Monoblocks with a wheel that shows the calipers. All I can say is that this modification was really the icing on the cake. It is a must do and provides the best bang for your buck of any modification I have seen.
Conclusion:
IMO I would have preferred a stiffer ride. While Koni FSDs work well on our cars and are a viable alternative to the stock Bilsteins, they could be stiffer. I probably should have gone for Koni adjustable Yellows – anyway, water under the bridge - onwards.
I would say that, overall, I am happy with these modifications - I love my paid for 10-year old, 135K mile car that still performs better than most 2010 cars that would carry a note. Hopefully the springs will settle a tad bit more over the next 2-3 weeks (I will perform alignment then) and the stiffness may improve (wouldn’t bet on this one though).
So in closing:
1. Euro Springs are good - 1" drop almost achieved sans the slammed looked.
2. Koni FSD improves over stock - nicely but not bone-jarring - but hell of a lot cheaper than OEM shocks.
3. Caliper Painting - be like Nike - Just DO IT!
Regards,
aarkaah

Congrats buddy i love too see the pics.. I have the sport yellow ajustable (are 2 models available, externaly or internaly adjust) i have externally "come with a special key to adjust" i'm extreme happy with the adjustables cause the 5 or 7 positions (i don't remember exactly) gave you a very elastic rate in Stifer - Soft sens! in the 3 position the rate is pretty close to the stock bilstein's in 4 position a little harsh & 1/2 position is very confortable.. the final position is only for track events HAAARD like a porsche turbo 964!
I'm very happy & the price is very competitive!

I think it is still too early to change the pads out. Looked even better today. I have posted all the pictures I have for now in my Album. I will probably update within the week my follow-up thoughts.

All,
Well I promised a 2-3 week review of my new set-up. Unfortunately, I will not be able to do so for probably another 2-3 weeks.
Less than a week after the work was done, Mother nature got the best of me with a hailstorm of mega porportions! (we are talking tennis ball sized). Anyway damage to the entire car body is extensive - PDR could not fix properly (surpassing $5,000 now).
We are now talking conventional repair. The Local dealer is recommending a full repaint - which for a babied 10 year old, 135K miles black car can be a good thing. Anyway, I am still in shock over the dings and the repair costs. I mean, this storm was so bad it dented the new 19"s! All I could do was watch in horror from the office window!
Mother Nature Wins!

Double-A.
