Help With Foglights

sooo my foglights never worked when i got the car,
tryed the fuse - nothing
thought it was the bulbs, changed them yesterday to another set of H3's still nothing

however when i turnoff my car, close the door and lock it ONE of the fogs comes on like a parking light stays on for about 30secs and goes off....

what do i do to get em to work?

the connectors are enclosed in plastic casing, i opened those up everythings in check,

funny part is i was missing a bottom bulb cover from one of the fogs so the inside metals got rusted a bit - HOWEVER that is the foglight that WORKS

other one is 100% clean and normal no rust and it doesnt work......

where should i look?

Maybe some little mouse cut the wire is some point (very common in the W210's) check the wire with a bulb tester!

kanno: May I ask how it is you're attempting to turn on the fog lights? You rotate the headlight knob to on, then pull it one notch out to engage the fogs?

If pulling out isn't working, then it may be something as simple as a bad headlight switch.

haha! yes exactly.. iw asnt doing that

soooo ive fogured out how to turn on the fogs after a bigass rainstorm

the next day i tryed turning them on only one of the fogs worked (same one from before)

im guessing i have a bad wiring somwhere, any perticular weakspot known to W210's in that department?

one time i lightly kicked it and it go contact worked for a bit then turned off when i drove over a bump. I know for a fact the bulb is sitting correct in its place

problem solved.

finally had some spare time to see what was going wrong there and problem was found.

there are connectors coming out of the fog lights that connect to the headlight harness, those connectors seem to get alot of exposure to rain etc and trend to rust out.
I notised that on one side where my fog was working this connecotr was removed and just hardwired directly to harness,,, so i did the same thing on the other side and VIOLAA done deal

that was my exact problem also .. and the weird *** connectors didint make it easy to find the same at auto parts store and dealer wanted $30 for a harness of a 2010 e class model so i just spliced and hardwired them and no problems since ..knock on wood ..

good job finding the gremlin .. its a ***** looking for it but pays off once its fixed ..
