Navigation Help Please
I am looking at buying a 2002 E55 without navi. Is this something that is easy to install a factory system or not?
Thanks Guys

I have Nav and never use it. It's outdated and kind of horrible. I really think you'd just be better off trying to find a good mount spot for a portable nav unit. Just my two cents.

I priced it out and its a way better deal to get an aftermarket flipout unit like the Pioneer AVIC-N4 or N5. A lot more features and less headaches.

if your ride dont come with it , aftermarket would be way togo if you willing to spend the loot for it . Otherwise tomtom or garmin might do it .. Theres plenty threads around here .
If you asking about installing a OEM one it wouldnt worth it in the long run . But mine has it and it actually works and all , only thing that sucks is i prefer one where the map is going north at all times . Thats where it gets kind of confusing .
Install i nice pioneer and you be chilling . Get the module for steering wheel controls and you set .

You need parts. GPS antenna. I believe you need to cut into the door sill to get the VSS speed signal (I don't think it's in the main harness if the car didn't come with GPS). You need to code the car using Star/SDS to know it has COMAND. It's not a plug and play installation.

In the long run it wouldn't be worth it figuring its a cd based navigation . But I would probably try it if my car didn't come with navigation. You would probably need a new trim piece to accomodate new setup unless you can cutout existing one

I have the nav command center in my 2000 ,with the 2005 maps ,after not being able to find street and addresses that were around in 1988 .I carry my portable Garmin with me when out house hunting now.
I vote aftermarket.
