Looking to join the club and buy a E55, been a longtime Mercedes owner
I have been on the search for a w210 (sentimental favorite) or a w211 (a supercharged beast). I think for me, I am just looking for the right car that has been maintained well. I have been ordering Carfax's on the cars I have been considering, these reports look helpful with the information they provide, but how accurate are they really - does anyone have information on the value of these reports?
Also any additional thoughts or information on why a w210 over a w211 would be greatly appreciated.

I am doing the exact same research. I am leaning towards the 2001-2002 model. My research shows that the 2005 is double in money and the difference is on the stiffer suspension and supecharger. Let me know your thoughts.

How was that for not completely answering the question.

Seriously, I can fortunately afford to pay for the right low mileage car in excellent condition.

Did you happen to look at the 2001 silver/black with 62K in your area? It was on CL last week, now the listing has expired. The ad was pretty good.. "e-mail me if you're serious and I might get back to you". So, I shot him an e-mail complimenting his beauty and saying that everything about the car seemed to be right in line, except for the $19.5K firm price. I told him that I would be willing to make the drive down to Carlsbad to check her out if he was willing to bend on his price. No response!!
I apologize to the seller if I offended you. I am serious about getting the E55. Just not at that price. The Car Factory has one with half the miles for less.

What ever the case may be, there was an ad on Craigslist. The vehicle was local to my area. The car was silver/black which is what I desire. There was no phone number to reply, only e-mail. I responded and made many compliments and listed my wants. The only negative conotation was to his asking price. No reply.
I have had the car for just over a week. I cannot express in words how much I enjoy driving this car - the sound of the motor under WOT is pure adult entertainment - does't get any better in my book

When I have time I will post pictures, specs and the story behind my Chase for a W210 E55 - some pretty interesting twists and turns (pardon the pun) along the way.
One thing for sure, this forum has been an invaluable resource in my search for the correct car - thank you to everyone who shared their knowledge on this forum.
