Just FYI I got a cassette audio adapter into my head unit in about ten minutes. Easy job. I routed the plug internal to the factory head unit and out to come out by the passenger's left knee. Sound quality is excellent. Totally clean install.
If anyone is interested I will follow up. Entire job took about 20 minutes and a $13 cassette adapter.

I made this in my previouse HU (OEM) but sound quality in mine is pretty poor
you have Bose sound system or audio special?
I update the system with a Pioneer 7800dvd with ipod adapter & bluetooth and sound quality now is pretty cool
I think the cassete adapter i bought have not pretty good quality

Nope Mercedes/Bose OEM. An aftermarket solution is certainly the best but for my $$, I'm giving the adapter a go and the sound quality is very good. I bought a Sony adapter. I am not sure how much better one over another is.

Haha that's funny. I use that as well. Works great.. next to my key I have a double sided velcro I cut a small circle size of a quarter (maybe smaller) the other side I put it on my 30GB IPod 5 gen / on the back of the rubber case. Works the bomb. Same thing with my smaller Ipod Nano.

I would also like to see some pics. I had to once.. actually 3x remove my shifter (that's another story) curious to see the set up and how you did it.
I need to connect my 2 12'' kickers and 500/1 JL Audio w/ fosgate cap this spring.. Sitting in my trunk for over 3 yrs now
In my S Class I kept everything stock and ran the amp/subs and sounded great. The Bose systems on these cars aren't that bad granted the S had a nice system. I like the exhaust note I just need a little more bass.
Ah here it is.. you can see it in the 2nd pic
