Headed out early for Black Friday and picked up this Gizmo for $85 w/case. Perfect fit where I placed it and the Boot Up Screen is AMG and shutdown is the MB Star/Thong

how did you get the AMG/MB Star to run on power up/down? Is that an option in the unit itself or did you recode it somehow? Pretty slick, especially for those without the command/nav unit.

Haha thanks... I thought it was pretty slick as well, not to many replies on this Mod. Well the newer GPS units make it easier for you to mod them. Basically cut and paste the original start up and shut down screen. Very easy to do. If anyone buys one of these units I can send easy instructions and my pics or if you find other MB pics you can go with that as well as it will take any pics.

By the way this GPS has the suction in the back which is neat due to the fact that it locks right in place and does.....not budge at all and you can tilt it a tad closer to the driverside if need be. Oh and it's very loud.

Gotta luv Black Friday it was worth the 4am wake up

Perfect, sorry for the late response. The holiday's kept me pretty busy. I'll share a few tips.

1. Once you plug in the GPS to your PC power on to connect.

2. Always, always copy entire GPS main folder before modding and updating maps. See Pic 1 and Pic 2 (In-case you mess something up or when updating your maps it errors out. Once this happens you will have a nice paperweight on your hands. Only way to fix the GPS is to ship it back to TOMTOM so that they can do exactly what I stated above /Copy and paste the main folder back to the GPS. Think of this folder as your operating system on your GPS if it errors out you can re-install the operating system. At least this way if you have it backed up you can easily go back in and delete the entire 49 folders/files and copy/paste the original one. (Back to Factory)

3. Find your Pics. Once you find your pics you will need to resize and re-name the jpeg. I use a freeware called Ifranview to change the size and be able to save it as .BMP file Per instructions (Save the image as a 24 bit bitmap file with the filename splash.bmp.) See 3rd and 4th Pic / Follow the same steps for shutting down pic. But name this file antitheft.bmp

4. Copy the file in the main folder. See Pic 5

Done and done.. Enjoy
