Euro springs delivered

Gert's shipment of the brand new Euro spec springs arrived today. I also bought 4 of the #1 spring pad (shims) from MB. I do not know what shims are on the car currently - but I am assuming #3's.

I am staying with the stock shocks

My car currently sits 27".... from the ground to the highest point in the fender arch... in it's stock configuration. I am expecting a 1" drop from the springs and a .66" (16mm) drop from changing the shims....1.6" from the whole excersize.

Is this too much? Will it rub? I am not wanting a slammed look. Should I stay with the stock pads?

opinions?

Hi!

I'd say go for the 1# pads This is my car with my Euro springs (Stock) and 1# in the back and 3# in the front before i put coilovers on it. No scratch or nothing with that setup!! Good luck!

That is exactly the way I am wanting it to look!

why # 3's in the front? was your stock with 3's all around? I bought 1's for all 4 wheels

Thanks for the quick reply. The price is steep. That's euro vs usd. Wonder if the dealer would order the springs if I give them the numbers. Maybe I'll look into H&R.

Hmm, you just reminded me. I still need to get #1 pads and install them. Not sure if anyone else has #1 pads with stock springs and shocks. I might be the first when I do it....If someone has them speak up please

390 euro's for some stock springs? Eibach's or H&Rs wouldve been a more cost effective and efficient upgrade.

I've been told it would be a nice drop, but remains to be seen

each reduction in pad # is 8mm....so moving from #3 to #1 would be 16mm or .63 inches

Pad drop

That's not bad. I'll take the .63in and keep the original springs and shocks. I was told that over time the aftermarket springs like H&R will get lower. I really don't want the car to look squady (with the wheels arching outwards).

I am thinking I may not install the #1 pads. I am in Real Estate and sometimes have 4 adults in the car. I am afraid it will scrape.

Opinions?

I wonder how hard is it to compress the springs and change the pads. Is this a do able DIY weekend job? I had a spring compressor which I use a couple of years back with my 87 300D. Is the setup of the W210 similar with the W124? If thats the case I might be tempting to change the pads myself.

Euro spec springs and #1 pads installed. Measuring from ground to the highest part of the wheel opening, I went from:

27" to 26" in front
27" to 26.25" in the rear

I will let it settle for a few days and measure again.

If you have the right compressor, it can be done in 1/2 hour

Can't you get the Euro spec springs from an MB dealer in the U.S? I found Euro spec springs for my C43 from 2 different MB dealerships in the U.S. and they were $70 a piece

What size spring pad does the E55 come with stock? The C43 came with #1 pads stock so I would assume the E55 would as well
