For anyone that wants to change foglight

I didnt mod anything , but changed the cracked lens oem foglight housing for a brand new one
http://www.autohausaz.com/search/pro...01&cid=13@Body, Trim %26 Lighting&gid=15015@Foglight

So after lifting the car on jack stand , Proceeded to try n take off the skidplate FML too many screws if it was on a lift i guess would made it easier but looked like too much trouble . So i went throu trapdoor on the skidplate . unscrewed 3 mounting screws all rusted as well as the brackets . they didnt really unscrew just kinda snapped off the bottom mount broke . sliding the foglight housing thru trap door was pretty tricky but after that its gets even tricker sliding the new one in .. pretty simple thought it would be harder . I got big hands so kind of a biatch moving inside the trap door cant see nothing just go by feel . 8mm socket and some angle extensions . Now after looking at them cant stand the sight of old one as it has rock chips and seems white where the new one seem clear but black sort of . Time to order new one

Moral of this post is if anyone wants to swap out for a new housing you dont have to remove skid covers just slinky your hands in through the trap door ..

its a pain in a the *** to get the correctly aligned flush with the front of the bumper when you reinstall it. I refer removing the bumper to mess with it. It only takes like 20 mins to remove the bumper anyways.

I need to re-align my fog lamp. It's not flush. Any good tips on how to do this and any tricks on putting back the bumper and making sure it's flush?

Thanks

Armani

correct I went thru the trap door jacked on stand kinda tricky getting it out and in but it works also might help having somone holding or pullin the lensr part but I managed it alone
I used a s little 8mm wrench but angle socket would make much re easier

Thought so~ that sounds like a good time

I need to remove the bumper so while I'm in there I'll adjust. Was it more of a tighten bolt 1 and align tighten type ? of fix?

yea man forget about, best to take off bumper . i just changed out my other fog like tonight . had a ***** getting it out of trap door had to undo the bracket thats screwed onto the housing while it was in the trap door . some of plugs were corroded and had to splice them instead of just plug them in . fuggin 2 fogs at $166/peice and $75 55w xenons installed ..$400 + the $500+ suspension costing me and not even done , sh*t gets costly when trying to multiple stuff . and i really wanna drop some Euro63RS style wheels but all these little BS holdin me back from cashin out on the wheels .

biggest ***** is being on your back your hands get tired , but angle socket with extensions and 8mm is all u need 3 bolts and its unscrewed.
also when doing xenons i splice them and run them threw breather slot instead of drilling cover but i think drilling cover is good cuz the back of HID bulb sticks out alot more with 2 wires compared to normal H3 bulb that has flat backing , also have the remove the negative wire thats connected to the housings since H3 bulb only comes with one wire . Fitting all that wiring and inside the cover and getting the cover tight and snug enough to slide the metal clip over to click into place is a big biiiatch also but when done and lit up look EFFING GREAT

LIttle help????

I'm new to the site but have not got any replies yet? I just got my daughter(first car) and I went to fix broken fogs H1 in 2001 E 430 non sport after getting to them the old bulbs were melted in the socket so I had to cut the socket out thinking I could just take it to the local parts store and get a new one! All anyone has is H1 sockets with only one pigtail wire on our car I cut two wires ???? Can I bypass the other white somehow or is this a part I need to order from MB??

I have to do this also , on both E55's, Mine is cracked and my wife's Housing is busted. Just ordered replacements from ECS tuning , i searched around and found them for $120.00 . I usually order my parts from Germanautoparts but they could no match the price.

Thanks I was hoping on just being able to splice a wire or retro fit the new "one wire''
h1 socket to work but I guess I will just have to pay the money!!
