Is there a way to shift out of park if the
brake switch is totally dead? Wife just had to leave car at shopping center, and I won't be able to pick up replacement part until later this evening.
Thanks.
Thanks.

your lights should be dead, but not being able to drive the car is strange, this didn't happen to my c43 when the BLS died.

Was able to move it after several tries. The trick was to turn the car on and let it idle for a bit. Got the part from the dealer and would change tomorrow.

Got it done last night. I must confess, I had my 13 yr old daughter remove and replace the part as I was tired and didn't want to fuss with getting to it. All is well now...

I had this happen to me; brake switch failure didn't allow me to move out of park.
FYI: There is a transmission release button for situations like this. Near the shifter is a little cover that opens down, into the shift assembly area. You need to take a pen or something similar in size and press the button located under the cover. This will allow you to shift out of park. Caution should be exercised while driving as your brakes will be in limp mode (no ABS and such).
