To Sell or not to sell? What's a fair price?

To Sell or not to sell? What's a fair price?
OK here's the story.... I have a 2000 silver E55 with only 33k miles on it, in excellent condition. I moved out of state almost three years ago, so it's been garaged in Beverly Hill CA since then... My wife has actually (somehow) gotten me to think about selling it since were not using it and really don't have room for it, since we already have two cars and no room in our garage and I really can't see bringing it down South where we moved and leaving it parked out doors with the extreme summer heat and the winter cold etc.. Thinking of taking it to carmax just for kicks when i get to L.A. later this month. Anybody have an idea what might be a fair price on such a low mileage w210???

CarMax will screw you. They don't want cars that old. You'd be lucky to get $10k from them. Better off putting it up on Ebay Local Classifieds and/or Craigslist, Autotrader, etc. Take lots of good photos.
Realistically, you might get somewhere in the range of $12k to $15k depending on how close to mint the car is. Many people do not want cars with that low mileage because they tend to develop non-typical problems with seals, engine internals, etc.

I also disagree with previous poster on low mileage cars having odd problems, thats only if the car was sitting in storage for a long time ( 5 yrs or more ) without any usage, these cars are just not that old. I have a friend who has a 2001 with 15k miles, has owned since new and the car is perfect mechanically.

The car should fetch 17k to 19k depending on condition, service records and options and the buyer. If I am looking for a W210 I would gladly pay 3k to 5k extra to have a low mileage car vs a car approaching 100k. You are talking about an extra 4 years worth of usage for only $1200.00 per year (60k mileage /4 = 15k miles per year avg driving, divide that by $5000 = $1250). Plus you get an interior that is perfect and a car that still has that solid tight feel that only a car with low mileage can have. In addition when friends drive in your car and it only shows 30k miles on the clock, it no longer looks like a used hot rod, but a time capsul for a classic AMG.

$17k to 19k. The buyer for that car is a different animal from the purchaser of a $100k+ mile car. "it only shows 30k miles on the clock, it no longer looks like a used hot rod, but a time capsule for a classic AMG" is EXACTLY right. Definitely don't do the Carmax thing.
btw...I have a '99 that just turned 33k miles and I have been using it as my daily driver for a year. No unusual problems at all. Most people just think it is a new Benz.

If my e55 got totaled somehow, I would have no problem rolling the insurance money into a 33k 210 E55. Even at $17k to $19k its still a deal.

I have about 30 years of experience with cars that tells me different. Ultra low mileage cars are a headache. They are only for collectors and do not make good daily drivers. I don't think there is any way that car sells for more than $15k unless he gets it in an Ebay auction, and all the stars align (ie: He finds a collector that wants the car).
