Looking for first E55
I've never owned an MB and have decided I need to have the experience. I drove a couple of used MBs and really enjoyed a 2001 E55. I'm trying to do my best to educate myself about the different models. There is an amazing amount of information in this forum on all the different models/years. Pretty overwhelming. I appreciated posts about the 2000 and 2001 E55s being classic and fun to drive. I'm guessing this will also fit in my price range of 10-15k.
I would sure appreciate advice on how to get into this world of MBs.
I was close to buying a 2001 E55 with 62k miles from a dealer for 15k but found a few fixes they weren't willing to pay for. The test drive was a blast and I'm convinced that an E55 is for me.
I don't know if it is bad etiquette to ask users if they may consider selling aE55. I figure this is probably one of the most concientious groups that takes great care of their cars.

I'm in Portland, Oregon. Ideally it would be nice to find something on the West Coast, but after reading some of the posts it sounds like if I find the right E55 I should be willing to ship it.
I should also mention this will be a daily driver for a number of years so the lower the mileage the better (I guess that generally goes without saying)

There are a few for sale here in the SF Bay Area right now. If you find one you're serious about it's only a 10 hour drive back if you were to fly down here.

It would be a lot of fun to fly to SF and drive an E55 back! Looking through that group, I see one E55 with 66k miles for 15,888 at a dealer. I was hoping to find something with a private party. I've paid for a few prepurchase inspections and have had to walk away. If anyone knows something about any of the craigslist or autotrader E55s out there, I sure would appreciate your insight.

That one has been on there for probably close to a month now. San Rafael is kind of a haul from here (and I wouldn't have time to look at it for at least 2-3 weeks), otherwise I wouldn't have a problem checking it out. I think there may be some members that are closer to there though, might be worth it to post a thread seeing if someone could look at it.
